Immediately excelling at a new job...
is bloody fantastic!
I was hired a few weeks back at Valley Truss as a technical panel designer for their wall panel division. A bare bones description would be this: I take blueprints for say a large condo project and break the whole framing design down into separate wall panels that are pre-fabbed on a production line and then put up on site almost like a puzzle.
Anyhow, before I start the design they wanted me to work down on the line for a month or two so I knew their whole process. It's been great! I started on Wednesday morning and within a couple of hours had all the shop guys asking me if I really had to go into the office. Basically my Dad has run his own framing business since I was a kid and taught me very well (who I really should thank honestly).
After being there 3 days I get asked to go to the new night shift with only 1 other current employee to train a new crew. On our first night with us two and 3 TOTAL rookies we almost matched what a 10 person day crew produced.
To say the least I have managed to make myself an indispensable asset to my new company in less than a week... and it feels double plus good!
