People who work for Rogers/Know a lot about Rogers/Have general GSM knowledge
Im looking for a data device (that is NOT a blackberry - Not a huge fan of the OS)
Basically my question is, with a Palm or HTC (the main two im looking into) can you use pay as you go data on it? I know with blackberry you HAVE to have a data plan to even access the internet. Is this the same with those data devices too? I only know the data thing in regards to blackberry because that is the only data device ive ever own. I only had the pearl and I HATED the mulitap keyboard. Would I be smarter to just buy one with a full keyboard or what?! Opinions, advice, comments...? GO |

^ I was looking at that one too.
The sites ive been reading have given it mixed reviews. The main problem appears to be application speed. A lot of the functions slow the phone down quite a bit. Im really leaning towards a Palm Centro. I had a Palm 700wx when I was at bell and literally thought I was going to cry when I had to sell it (because I quit). AMAZING phone. Loved everything about it. |

i don't have to know anything about GSM or Roger's to tell you you're wasting your money on a TREO. notoriously shite devices. They are cool at first, but generally degrade in phone quality signifigantly after less than a year, making it a pretty bad investment.
the samsung jack is okay but it doesn't compress data like a blackberry does so be prepared to spend a bit extra on a larger data plan. edit - i agree with rawb on the window's mobile sentiment. absolute bs. plus if you're actually paying for your own data plan it tends to use A LOT more than other devices b/c windows is famous for leaving apps open in the background. |

^ What would you suggest in terms of a data device then.
In all reality the email side isnt THAT important to me. I really just want something with a full keyboard and a calander amoung other organizational features. With two jobs, and basically NO time to talk on the phone, I TXT a lot. and I have always liked the idea of a full keyboard a lot more. What do you think I should invest in if the Palm sucks LOL (p.s i HATED the windows mobile but Palm OS doesnt bother me much) |

the n95 is better for an all-around multimedia device as it's got superior camera, 8gig memory, wifi, mp3 player, movies, etc. However, it lacks a qwerty keyboard so it may not be hat you're after.
Anything else from nokia that would actually be decent for full keyboard use (e61i, e71, e90, etc) is just not available in Canada. |
