Grand Theft Auto pulled off shelves after teen murders taxi driver
Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the most popular video games of 2008. However a lot of controversy has been surrounding the game due to its content. MADD, Mother Against Drunk Driving, recently spoke out about the drunk driving content of the game soon after it launched earlier this year.
Reuters is reporting today that a Thai video game distributor has pulled the Grand Theft Auto IV off the shelves after a teenager confessed to robbing and killing a taxi driver in an attempt to recreate a scene from the video game. “We are sending out requests today to outlets and shops to pull the games off their shelves and we will replace them with other games,” Sakchai Chotikachinda of New Era Interactive Media, told Reuters. After further investigation, Police said the teenager, a big fan of Grand Theft Auto, showed no signs of mental problems and had confessed to committing the murder of the taxi driver because of the video game. The teenager said that he did not mean to kill the taxi driver but wanted to see how easy it was recreate a scene from the game and stabbed the driver to death when fought back. Coming up, tweens lop each-others limbs off trying to recreate scenes from Soul Calibur IV and is Loco Roco responsible for your child's inner ear disorder? You'll be shocked at what's been stumbled upon... By our journalists, not your tipsy kid.

one is a theory surrounding a suspicious and savage murder, not suggested by the guilty party. IF (yes i said if) it is true, it would completely annul any responsibility for said murder, and is definately something to be considered when passing judgment on the culprit. essentially hes %100 responsible or %100 brainwashed and not responsible. the other is either an admission on the culprits part that the video game played a major role in his murder, or an attempt to pass the buck to the video game, to avoid maximum punishment. true or false, this murderer is a danger to society and should either be in jail or a mental facility. |

Bottom line: At no point did Rockstar Games instruct or encourage this wanker to go out and murder another human being. I mean, for fuckssake, GTA IV is a THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE GAME! Its pretty fucking evident that your using a hunk of plastic and wire to move a fictional charcter around a fictional setting.
But say we give this asshole the benefit of the doubt. He wanted to see if real life correlated to Liberty City in GTA IV. Well, doesn't GTA IV take place in New York City look-alike Liberty City? So shouldn't Liberty City cabbies be akin to New York City cabbies? So what the fuck was he expecting trying to jack a cab driver in another frickin' hemisphere? If you're gonna layout a line of bullshit try not to leave holes in your logic you could drive a truck through. |
