occasm's razor dosnt really apply to human interaction/events because we are irrational and often they're irrational and complex reasons that underlie our actions.

exactly. the truth is it doesnt fucking matter whether they had papers signed or were just playing war games together. the fact of the matter is, pulling out in times of high stress is a fucking slap in the face. this shits chess it aint fuckin checkers. russia pulling out in any way shape or form from anything is just saying "fuck the west, get ready bitches"
im waiting for shit to start up in africa. theres alot of political control there and ill bet we will start seeing alot more of these controlled countries strapping up and feuding. and what does this all mean? it means we all need to turn off these idiot boxes, and go sign some papers. ive been waiting for the right time to serve and i think this is my will call. im gettin the good training and promotions before you suckahs get conscripted and have to be trained in a saturated military, by the likes of me. see you all in a few years. |

its not semantics.
p.s. what kam said, in these situations subtle and very specific concerns mean everything. Last edited by SEAN!; Aug 23, 08 at 07:17 PM. |

Well with International Relations you have to be very specific about these types of relationships. NATO is still very much viewed as the "other guy" for Russian foreign policy. Their cooperation is probably more due to past power relations and a form of economic tie. Now that the US is ass up economically, politically, and with two drawn out wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Russia wants to push for it's needs and start protecting it's sphere of influence. Co-operation is an easily contingent word now that Russia has decided it's no longer in their interest to co-operate. If a lot of these conflict relationships are over energy, imagine when it becomes a battle for the next depleting resource, water.

I think this conflict is about pride as much as its about energy. Since the US has been courting georgia after the rose revolution I think the russians had to make a show of force inorder to illustrate that that part of the world is still their sphere of influence. the russians have been voicing these concerns since the fall of the soviet union and before members of the warsaw pack became members of NATO. Its only now that they have the right mixture of authortarism and economic resurgence where they're able to articulate their concerns in a way the Bush administration actually understands i.e. fuckin up someone militarily. Still I think russia is in a position of weakness, oil wealth is fading as well as very volatile and they have a limited opportunity to go back to the style of imperialism that they hold dear. I think they know this and I think they are just as afraid of direct conflict as we are. All it really is, is a signal, they're planting their flag and saying don't step here. |
