Make sure you use paypal.

Paypal covers you up to a total of 10 grand I think it is if you do not receive an item or anything goes wrong with your online transaction.

I highly suggest you look at the FAQ page of Ebay.

Check the seller's rating. If they have a 98%+ rating and 100s of transactions then most likely you won't get screwed. Pay using paypal and don't leave a comment on the persons ebay account UNTIL you receive your package. The ability to leave feedback is your way of making sure the person ships your stuff the way you want it to be shipped etc.

Feedback is a great indication.

Just view their previous transactions. If they have many positive transactions and little or no negative ones spread over a long period of time, they are a reputable seller.

If they have a large number of positive feedbacks it pretty much means that there won't be any problems.

Be careful looking at feedback though. If the people with high percentages but LOTS (10,000+) transactions, make sure you look at the actual numbers of pos/neg feedback, ESPECIALLY the recent stuff.

Otherwise, best advice is to use your credit card to pay through paypal, because if PP screws you, you can still go with your cc and file a chargeback.
