haha you took that air asia flight to the middle of nowhere eh? Why not that's so cheap! I paid $550 for BKK to Calcutta and then Bombay to BKK.....and the same Amount for BKK to Bangalore and Bombay to BKK.

I don't remember what shots I took to be honest. You should get them, but to be honest I was really paranoid my first trip and got every shot and took every pill and spent hundreds of dollars, the next 5 month trip I spent about $80 on malaria pills and stopped taking them half way. This time I'm not taking anything and hoping for the best lol!
India is pretty gross though so I'd take whatever you need to take. A buddy of mine went to Africa and didn't take malaria pills, then he caught it and almost died in a ghetto African hospital....so it's better safe than sorry!

Go to the Philippines!! Such a great place!

I was actually really happy about flying into Tamil Nadu, as when I was originally planning the trip the big thing I wanted to see was the temples that are unique to that area, however I wasnt too happy about flying into Bangalore or chennei to see them (havent heard the best things) Trichy is right in the area I want to be, mostly interested in Tamil Nadu and Kerela as an introduction to India (Im not ready for Dehli just yet)

Its funny because I was moving last week and with the costs of flights to India being so high, I had reluctantly packed away for storage my India Lonely planet. Unpacking that sucker was a huge plus to my day after I booked the flight, stoked.

Yeah South Indian temples are really cool. I found Rajisthan, Calcutta, Varanasi to be a much more amazing trip. But the South is pretty amazing also....really amazing you'll love it. Hampii was my favorite. Ask your rickshaw driver to let you drive, they'll let you!

India is so amazing because every region is like a whole different country. Rajistan is so different from Varanasi and so different from the south. Bombay is one of my favorite cities in the world, such an amazing place. Read my blog about it!

Bangalore is not a pleasant city to be in and there's no sites, just traffic. Lots of cool lounges though but they all close down at 11pm by law. If you find yourself there let me know I've got a friend named Pooja there who would be happy to let you stay in her beautiful apartment for a couple nights =)

Hey guys...

Vacation was just approved. November 13th-December 21.

Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
Solo.
Yikes.

1. Recommended airlines.
2. Recommended guesthouses.
3. Things I absolutely have to do, cannot miss out on.
4. How to budget wisely.
5. How to stay safe.
6. How to split my time between those three countries.

I've read agrodave's blog a million times now.

Looks like I'm finally going. Very excited. Flight with JAL leaves for Bangkok on November 13th and returns on December 21st. 36 days if I counted correctly.

Tentative plan:

I'm going to fly between most of the major cities in order to save time, which hopefully will allow me to see more of the area. Tentative route will be: Bangkok--> Chiang Mai--> Laos (Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Vang Vieng)--> Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Saigon)--> Cambodia (only Siem Reap) --> Thai Islands (andaman sea side only. Ko Phi Phi, Ko Lanta). I'm Looking forward to seeing Hanoi, and doing a three day boat cruise in Halong Bay.

^take the train from bangkok up to chaing mai. its only takes a day and you arrive the next morning. brilliant way to see the country.

if you like archaeological sites and big piles of rocks that people say are important check out ayuthaya on your way up. Its the old capital. brilliant sight seeing. best guest house ive ever stayed in anywhere in the world(lots) is there. its called 'tonys place' rhia and kenny stayed there too

Yeah, Ayudaya was awesome, rented a scooter and saw most of the temples that way. Definitely a spiritual place.
