Winter gives everyone who has lived somewhere shittier than the west coast (ie toronto, northern bc, northern alberta, the interior, the north in general, the maritimes, the east coast of the USA, alaska) to feel special. Born and lived in Nackusp for my early years which by now is buried in feet of snow...and uhh, I'm going to Calgary next week (minus 30 right now.)

I'd love to sit and chat about all of my other travels around to shittier places than BC but really, does it matter?

Grew up on Vancouver Island actually... with time spent living in Inuvik, NWT and almost a year in Iqaluit, Nunavut and now with about three years in South Central Ontario, yeah, I think I am qualified on the subject of cold.

Honestly though it's not that bad out there.

The biggest problem is that Vancouver doesn't have the infrastructure set in place to deal with snow. Our neighbourhood on Long Island is amazing when it comes to snow, as soon as there's a drop of it the plows and salt trucks are out on all the streets, not just the main roads.

Vancouver just doesn't have that which makes the slightest snowfall seem a lot worse than what it really is.

took me 2 hours to get from chilliwack to abbotsford... It is indeed blizzard conditions between that stretch. I've really never seen anything like it... and I have been through alot of nasty weather in eastern canada.
