The U.S. lost ten percent of what?

And it's not necessarily a full on ground war, which makes projecting power somewhat easier and somewhat less costly. Not to mention they already have a major ground force in Afghanistan, which borders with Pakistan. And the people they would be fighting in Pakistan are essentially the same people they are fighting in Afghanistan. Ergo, it's not really starting a new war, it's just the U.S. finally ignoring the imaginary line that has thus far prevented them from bringing a legitimate force to bear on the taliban in their staging areas/bases/training grounds/etc in Pakistan.
