Alright, that's what I get for drinking a couple tall boys of Bavaria red and toking some purple kush. Ebbo set me straight there. RT is pretty awesome tho. Eat that shit for breakfast.
Despite all that, are any of you surprised to hear such ideologies exist? I quite enjoyed the Orwell reference to Animal Farm. |

^ The whole left/right paradigm in the US has been blurred since the off-shore banks bought out the US decades ago. The puppeteers control both sides. I know revolver knows this. This isn't directed at him. Just agreeing that really titties are better, yes. They're in the middle.

The left/right thing in the US is one of the strangest things I've ever watched. It's a slow motion car accident involving a whole country. Both sides only work to make sound bites or appease the right wing or left wing media (I you could say this has always been the case, but not to this level). It's interesting to watch. Look at an important law that has to pass through government in Canada (Crime Bill) vs the US (Health Care). Canada's not great but there is actual discussion on the issue (as well as some party posturing) but the issues get discussed. I guess this is what happens when you have three 24 hour news services and the only way to fill time is with the station's opinion. |

The interesting thing about American politics is how various groups and ideologies intermesh. There are so many monikers that are thrown around down there such as progressives, moderates, and libertarians. Now there is an increased focus on "populism" or at least some confused notion of it.
The face of these politics change quite a bit. The "Right" in the US is under a giant shift as it soul searches for new meaning. They are taking into account what other groups are voicing, what they believe in, and find a way to synthesize a new face for Republicans in America. I think the prevalence of a Left vs. Right in the American media is rooted in their propensity to make every issue black and white, good versus evil and the two party system they have. I haven't quite decided yet whether it's a good idea to jam all these influences into two political parties or to have an "everyone's invited" system like Germany and Italy who need giant coalitions to govern. Anyways, this article on Alternet explains a little bit of the various changes and reformations of ideology that is taking place in America atm.
