Ghetto Food????

My guess is that there are a lot of people on here who have to budget and what not to get by, just like myself.

My question to all o' y'all is this... What are some of your fave low cost meals? I mean other than the stand-by's such as KD and Mr. Noodle and such.

Living on a low budget is fine and all but dammit I need some variety!! Let's see what you can come up with and hopefully I can add some new foods to my menu!

I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. I get organic ones delivered to me biweekly for a whopping 50 bucks a month [you get TONS of good stuff]. Definitely worth it if you're a vegetarian on a budget.

You haven't had ghetto food until you've tasted our rez grub.

Buy in bulk. It saves quite a bit of $$ in the long-run.

Aww. One thing I miss about Van. is Costco...mmm, samples. :284:

They don't even really look at the pic on the membership card. I used my Mom's all the time and I never had a problem getting in.

Ya, but I think they take a better look when you are actually buying the stuff.
My sister also used to go with my dad too because she doesn't drive and needed someway to get there :P

Costco is the best though..

Split Pea Soup, and/or lentals. Just add spices for different meals.

or my fav

1 can tuna
1 mushroom soup
2-3 servings of noodles

dump in pot, heat up. Save the rest for lunch tomorrow. You can add 1 gram of 'other' mushrooms to this as well, for more fun.

^^^ That's definitely a good cheap eat. You can also do the same, but instead of putting it in a pot, put it in a casserole dish and bake it. Top it off with some slightly crushed regular rippled chips. :)

Want something really cheap and somewhat healthy. A bowl of rice and a small portion of vegetables (whatever you can find). If your lucky, a small portion of meat. Woot!

lost secret of the universe: breakfast is a state of mind.

eggs are cheap. potatoes are cheap. bread is cheap. even pre-cut hashbrowns are cheap if you're too lazy to cut potatoes.

just remember to put hotsauce and maple syrup on everything.
