tadaaaa!!
I'm done.. finally. She's not as bad ass as I was going for but I really don't have the time to do what I want. That wasn't even the pose, or the weapon I was planning on but oh well. She also turned out a little more "cartoony" than I wanted.
Note she is really messy, I have to clean her up and do a little more work on the sword.. maybe make something for her to sit on but yah.. here she is, my stereotypical female comic book/video game character... |

Yes because rude is something YOU never are, right?
I didnt fucking plagerize!! I drew a picture using another picture, in my write up i even put the credit for where I found the pose. I never once said it was completely MY drawing, how is that plagerizing? I didn't think to add credits with the picture online because It's just a freaking post on a message board. And what is so wrong with drawing something with part of another picture in it?? Especially for an ART CLASS. I think both you and stabby should save your energy so you can hunt down the original artist and build up a lawsuit against me since its such a monumental problem. I dont know who the artist is, all I know is that it is from the cover of a heavy metal issue from 1998 (i think). If I had nothing more important in my life I would go back and look it up, but I really don't feel like it.
And thank you baby 10. I'm still cometpley clueless as to why me drawing a picture, using the pose/form of another picture is really such a problem. And if its because I called it MY drawing in the subject line well you people really need to chill out and learn how to choose your aguements. Anyways, I am no longer discussing this. I don't feel I am wrong, you people are just majorly annoying AS USUAL. And untill you can actually, truly explain why drawing a picture of another picture (even though i did change quite a bit of it) is such a crime I'll continue to take pride in my DRAWING OF SOMEONE ELSES POSE. exactly.
did I trace the picture? NO did I deny the fact I used the pose? NO And If I really wanted to "plagerize" (which I wouldn't.. thats not only illegal but disrespectful) i wouldn't have done it with a picture i had allready shown stabby and others. ok NOW i'm done :P |

Haha.. you are actually taking that serious?
MC bitch.. Ooooh that hurts haha. If I was to seriously call you a bitch it wouldn't be because of this topic, but many other ones that you've stepped over the line of stating your opinion and just plain being a cunt. |

Sorry leslie.. but I dont think you could MC.. but then again.. I've never heard you try.. so wut amI saying..
but I ahve to disagree Jenna.. Leslie has just as much right to voice her opinion as you do.. and we all tend to go over the line. I know I do sometimes.. but hey thats me.. and heck that might be how leslie is also.. anyways.. I like the pic.. but the sword seems to bland for the pic.. spice it up a bit :P |

It's a matter of principles.
I mean, the person who drew the cover of heavy metal probably put their heart and soul into it. Something that might have taken them several weeks to draw or even less then a day, but they put sooo much creative energie into the picture. And yet, you drew the picture in one day, copying the structure of the picture with a few changes to their costume. You said something about wanting to be a fashion designer or something. Well, how would you feel if someone took one of your designs and changed it just a little bit and used it as their own. Personally, as an artist, I would be appalled if I had known someone had copied my artwork without my consent. |

^ohhh but they do that everywhere. even with music. They take an old song and they match it to the times and "spice it up".. Yes it is sick, and it does suck for the person who originated the idea, but that's life. and shit like that happens.....
I don't think mistresspankme is trying to start her own new series of comics with her drawing anyway, and in a sense, perhaps making a drawing similar to the way women in comic books are portayed, strengthens the message she's trying to get across. I think the point is that she didn't trace... or draw it in the exact same way as the cartoon. I think that a lot of artists have found inspiration from different places and in a sense, it's also part of a creative challenge for an artist to take old ideas and recreate them into something fresh. I'm not encouraging plagiarisim, I'm just saying that we all get our inspiration from somewhere and sometimes ideas are "borrowed". The point is, to give credit "where credit is due". Besides, even if one idea was solely one's own, some one else out there has already done it ten times better... if you look closely she added her own detail in shadowing, etc... the face is nowhere close to the same as the one in heavy metal. All this is just a school project and I don't see the big deal but commenting on the piece itself, you're very smooth in the way you shade and such... It's very "soft" looking, and consistent throughout the piece. (i think it's your style, because your other pieces [ie,"ride'em betty] seemed to have the same effect) Once you clean up the fingerprints on your page i'm sure it'll turn out to be an awesome project, interested in seeing the final product, ;) Last edited by yoko*; Jan 28, 03 at 01:26 AM. |
