Everything else i plan to do is engine stuff like injectors and things like that...All really depends on what i find...TDI ill have to pour a grand into it to make it a driveable speed lol. Hopefully ill get a GTI or a 1.8 turbo
golfs of that vintage don't come with the 1.8t or tdi engines, you're choices are the 2l 4cylinder..which is dog slow...like really fuckin slow man i think it has around 110hp. the other option is the 2.8l vr6 which has 170hp and alot of low end torque. vr6 engined golfs are fairly uncommon as buying a GTi does not ensure a VR6 engine, but rather upgradec suspension components and brakes i beleive. a VR6 golf is considerably more expensive then a normal GTi but is worth it in my opinion because of the increase in power, as well as the fact that you recieve all the standard equiptment of a regular GTi, but also have power everything including moonroof, leather seats upgraded stereo etc. Both engines are very strong and will last for ever with minimal maintenance, the mk3 series golfs(92, i think,-99.5) themselves are also very reliable cars whihc rarely have any serious mechannical/electrical breakdowns. The same cannot be said for the newer mkiv golfs.

ill be buying a VR6 GTi myself in a few months, probably a 98-99.

if you want the 20v 1.8turbo engines as found in the audi a4 then you're going to have to buy a 2000+ car. there the ones with projector lights, and rounded body. They are not as relaible as the older model golf's. if you're friend ois the same guy with the TDI then his car is not a 95 it is a 00 or newer car.

sean is right!

1.8t's are only in the current model golfs. which are new ass. vr6's suck. as far as having a fast vw or even decent, get ready to spend spend spend.
