Where the sidewalk ends
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pit where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends. -Shel Silverstien Last edited by strawberr_E; Feb 26, 03 at 08:56 PM. |

Stawberry_e.. are you aware that ppl are giving you credit as well as responding to poems you did not even write?
I used to love Shel Silverstein's poems as a kid and had a lot of respect for his poetry just as much as I did for Dr Seuss. He also had a lot of great drawings that were unique in his own style... It's nice to be able to reminisce on the old poetry I used to read in elementary school, however I think it's important that you give credit where credit is due. I figured you would do that at least when ppl start commenting on the poetry as though it were yours. Colours, Hug'O'War, Where the Sidewalk ends, Dancing Pants, Wild Strawberries =the five poems that you put up without giving credit to the poet, the poet shoud deserve, especially because ppl seem to be assuming that you wrote them. I <3 Shel Silverstein, :145: give the old man some respect. Last edited by yoko*; Feb 26, 03 at 06:13 PM. |
