My Car Caught On Fire
Today at the parking lot of Mount Seymour, my car's engine caught on fire. I dunno what the fuck caused it. I just started chucking snow all of over the engine. It burned through the engine cover completely and burned through a bunch of wires too. It's a 98 Grand Prix so I totally didn't expect this kinda shit ot happen. Fuck, you don't think the real POS cars catch on fire for christ's sake. We'll see what the dealership says when they see it tommorow. It better be covered under warranty.

thats crazy dude, but i can empathize completely! my first car, an '89 Hyundai Excel, caught on fire a couple of years ago. the engine was totally charred! but it is covered and i got money for it so its all good now cuz i have a way better car! :)
sorry about your fire though......a '98 should not be burning up! i hope you get it replaced or receive every last penny you deserve! |

engine fires can be caused by leaking fuel injectors, oil leaks, stripped wires, tons of stuff. And people ask why i have a fire extinguiser in my car... :) |

Heey, my boyfriend's car caught on fire going up Mount Seymour too! This was last month....
Don't worry, ICBC covers car/engine fires....I think there will probably be a $300 deductable....We got his car back and running, although I don't understand why they didn't write it off because the repairs were over $3000. *Jen* |

Is that like the limit to how much they'll pay before they write it off?? Or is that judges on how old the car is? I don't know much about insurance but I know they paid for about $5000 of damage done to the back end of our car when it got rearended by f250..
Good that you're okay though, a car fire would suck. Especially if you were driving it at the time. Ahh.. Last edited by c.tard; Mar 10, 03 at 10:47 AM. |

i think the fire started just as i was parking my car cuz i didn't smell much or see much smoke beforehand. who knows. i love my car but i don't feel to great bout gettin back into that damn deathtrap.
I'm gettin fuckin pissed off too. Dealership is bitching saying that they don't know what caused the fire and that there's a possiblitly of me having to pay for labour of finding out what it is, if that isn't covered under warranty then i pay for the labour of finding out. I've filed an ICBC claim as well, but i've heard even in no fault accidents/mishaps, that my premiums still go up. WHAT A FUCKING CROCK. I hate this shit. To everyone that cared, yeah i'm fine. thanks. Luckily i was by snow, that's all i have to say. I swear, there's not too many things as intense as wathcing your engine engulfed in flames. Word of advice for people going to a delaership to buy a car. DON'T. and if you are and thinkging of a warranty. DON'T. I've spent 2300 on a warranty for 2 years and it's fuckin BOGUS. I've already had to for out 500 cash for a repair that wasn't covered. I'll let you guys know updates, I'm talkin to ICBC tommorow |
