Personally...I've always LOVED trance even before I got into the "rave" scene hearing tunes like ATB and top 40 like Robert Miles "Children"...It's just so melodic and uplifting...It puts a smile on me when I'm feeling gloomy...Makes me feel happy when I'm down...
Always haved and always will LOVE trance... :kimmie: |

This whole thread is totally interesting, and im a trance lover at heart... but its almost as diverse as comparing who likes and doesnt like alternative music, or acoustic music, or even something completely on other sides of the spectrum such as comparing country with hip-hop... i know its totally different, but comparing trance and other kinds of techno music is just that, totally different, and ppl are diverse, and along with that comes different tastes of music... which is cool, and i think thats what makes the "rave scene" so cool, the diversity, but also the unity of everyone dancing together to one DJ and loving the music in general.. hence, also a reason why they have 2-3 rooms at most raves... to tell u the truth, techno like Prodigy got me hooked and music like Robert Miles, kept me searching for more, and now Trance keeps me going!

I am aware people will say 'Well, you can say that any type of music all sounds the same unless you listen to it a lot' - and this is true, EXCEPT FOR TRANCE - it really is that monotonous and lame. and for the record I didn't even like trance when I started going to parties. |

I do agree that lots of DnB and Jungle (even breaks) can be monotonous, but this tends to be shitty DnB and Jungle. With Trance, somewhere around 2% of it has musical knowledge inserted (i.e. dynamic tempos, rising and falling moods - this is supposed to be the point of trance isn't it?). A good example of someone who actually has his wits about him is Robert Myles, bit more on the clubby side - but with him it doesn't seem like your listening to trance, your listening to his music - which is also the point. Maybe I don't listen to enough trance to find the good stuff (due to complete lack of interest), but either way you still have the vast majority of trance djs hiding their lack of any skill on the decks with the relative ease of spinning the genre. Probably why it all sounds the same. |

I was making a slight generalization there with my last post as I thought you were with your remark about trance.
I like you have probably not listened to enough DnB or Jungle to tell the difference between good and bad, but I have listened to enough trance to say there is good and bad stuff out there. To each their own but I wouldn't go around berating other genres until I had a better grasp of it. |
