have YOU abandoned trance?....
i dont understand.... it seems there's some unspoken rule that if youve been ravin for "awhile," you are obliged to shun trance for breaks....ugh...what's up with that?
I enjoy the harder stuff too, at times, but why do I keep hearing partiers complaining about trance? |

There are still trancelovers out there, but you have to realize how HUGE breaks are right now.
Everyone is listening to breaks whether they be so-called "oldschool" partiers, or people new to the scene. And about this unspoken rule... its called going to your first party all ripped on E, listening to some trance and thinking its the best thing in the world. then after a while, u stop going so hard, realize you can't stand the music without the drugs, and find a genre easier to listen to, ie breaks. But thats just one scenario. |

I know, I don't do drugs either. So the whole stereotypical raver genre switch doesn't work for me. lol.
Every genre has something different to offer. But with trance, just look at the mainstream shit that people hear: ATB? DJ Sammy? No wonder a lot of people say they hate trance. I can listen to and appreciate pretty much every genre. Except hardcore. and hard house. I can't STAND them. Maybe thats because i'm NOT on drugs. haha. |

Most people don't know or care to be educated about trance. To many of them,,, it all sounds the same. Personally,,, I play a style of trance that is suited for a more mature/older crowd,,, so I wouldn't expect someone who is 18 to be interested in the type of muisc I play.

I first started out listening to trance, about 3-4 years ago when i first started getting into the "rave scene" and yeah, i do dig some breaks, jungle, and house, now butttt, trance is still king in my opinion, i can listen to it on drugs, off drugs, in the car, at home, whenever, i find it has a lot of different variety, maybe even more than other types of music out there... I'd have to agree with Danny somwhat, there are different types out there, but ppl usually just label it as mainstream like ATB, and DJ Sammy, which in my opinion is NOT trance... just my two cents...

dude ... i think evenually u just grow and with growing comes change and some ppl realize that trance isn't what they like to listen to anymore ... it's as simple as that. And i'm really getting annoyed with these stupid stereotypes of junglists , candykids or whatever else u come up with ... it's just fucking stupid.

"how can a type of music be suited for a certain type of crowd?"
crowds tend to diversify across musical boundaries.. just think of the people at each of these different events: rob zombie concert happy hardcore party with hIxXy and BriSk #$% or something folk fest dixie thigamajig a deep house friday at lotus the answer to your question is EASILY! :) |

I never abandoned trance. Trance abandoned me for the mainstream back in '98.
It's a real shame, too. Before then, there was an equal appreciation for all forms of trance (hard, psy, goa, epic, airy, whatever adjective you want to put to it). Seems like once one subset of it broke away, every style of trance suffered a backlash. |

Currently breaks and jungle rule the rave scene. Trance and hard house were kings a few years back. In a few years I have a feeling some form of house will rule the rave scene.
In the club scene its a completly different thing. Its all about house. Sexy funky house gets all the bar stars crazy. Hip-hop is pretty popular too, well its pretty much popular in any part of North America. Unlike in the rave scene, Breaks and jungle isnt as popular. Personally I think all trance sounds the same to me. I only like Trance that has a girl singing in it. When it comes to dancing to it, I just cant do it. Breaker circles owns all and that is why I like breaks. Funky & disco house just makes you wanna grind. This works well with a bit of alcohol in your system and a hot chick. :c-tard: |
