Backpacking In Europe
This whole thing kinda sprung randomly outta nowhere, but I'm going backpacking in Europe later on this summer. I was just wondering if any of you could give me any suggestions as to what to do/where to go for any of the following places. I want to try to max out my time in each place...mix of sightseeing during the day and partying/shows during the night. Just starting on some research online right now, but I know there's only so much you can find on these travel websites/guides.
Flying in and out of Paris, and training between Zurich, Munich, Prague, Vienna, Venice, and Geneva. |

london is dope but expensive, paris is gorgeous, full of history but expensive, the french rivera is sooooooooooo nice, go there for sure, florence is one of the coolest city's, venice is teh coolest city, munich- go to the hafbraugh house (s/p?) and get a liter of beer for 6 euro, chill out in a coffee shop in amsterdam(you know what to do). run with the bulls in spain, go to brussel's awesome city. rome was alright... if you make it go to austria, soooooo clean and pristine and beuatiful, go to the ski the alps and sit ontop of the world....

Go for as long as you can!!! I traveled/backepacked in australia for a year till they kicked me out when my visa expierd. I highly reccomend getting a chance to just live and work somewhere if you can. It makes the biggest difrence I find and an extramly more caultural experience!
Anyways as far as past info ive gathered... go for an all train pass that takes you all over europe. You can basicly travel through a country in one day(the smaller ones)! I knew a couple who did the whole thing through (conticky?) tours in a month. Personaly I sugest avoid as meny tours as posible because you dont realy have the freedom... however you do pick up a lot of facts and info. Agin, you may think all the great stuff is in the big citys. When in australia, meny ppl found a city... just another city. I cant say the same about europe, however... do try to explore and soak up some of the smaller towns and realy get to know some local ppl. And try to see if you can live/work there for a fair bit of time... that was the most amazing thing i ever did in oz, working in a tiny out back town. It will help to have a "loanly planet" guid book or something simular like "lets go" (only books i can think of) See if you can get one more based on europe... otherwise they provide them of every country/major city and they give you all your basic knowlege of hostels-hotels to stay at, maps, club/pub advice and returans etc. And like your doing now... keep on resurching!!! you dont want to discover somthing new to see after you already visited the country/city. Good luck, youll have the best time ever!!! |

Yoko & Akeel...Good news! All the studying paid off. It's over, and I think I did pretty well for once! :D It's a great feeling not walking outta there after an hour cause I don't know anything at all, nor having to guess 75% of the multiple choice. And Akeel, not going through Belgium...sorry, you know I would've loved those chocolate breasts as much as you did. ;)
I've been to Europe several times...went all over, but it was travelling with family. This time, I'm going with a girl friend of mine and two of hers. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for your input you guys! Wellbeloves**I wish I could just take off like that! Unfortunately I won't be able to leave for such a long time...gotta come back to Van for a couple weeks before I come back to Montreal to move into my new apt before school starts. Glad I'm getting the chance anyhow. But damn, your trip to Australia sounds like it was such a great experience! I went there several years ago...scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef! Definitely my most memorable experience there. It's so beautiful and I want to go back so badly! That's going to be next on the list! Oh yeah, and we are doing that train thing...I'm not sure if it's with Conticky, but we're taking the train between all the cities so that we end up doing a Europe. Prague is a bit outta the circle, but the other girls haven't been there before so they're wanting to hit it up. No complaints from me! Last edited by Erica; May 28, 03 at 05:02 PM. |
