Drive, without question. Why? First off, transit in this city sux ass. I grew up without a car (parents didn't have one) and very independant so I spent a lot of time out of the house. And always took transit. BUT, this was in Montreal, where transit made sense, buses had reasonable routes and schedules, and all night bus service was actually available. Vancouver transit, which I took for the first few years I lived here, is inferior in so many ways I don't even know where to begin.
Secondly, I find I prefer (after about a quarter century of public transit) the comfort of my own vehicle, my own tunes at my own volume, never having to worry about getting a seat, the ability to smoke, eat and drink (non-alchohalic bevys, of course) to the compromises I would need to make taking the bus and skytrain. Third, at the wage I am at, when I include the value of my time into the equation, transit is, for me, the more expensive option. |

TRANSIT SUCKS!
I got a car in December. 96 Firefly (4door). Yea yea, it aint no rice rocket, but gets me from A-B. It's a huge relief not taking Transit (mileage is pretty good as well). No more weirdo's handing you copies of "The Watchtower", no more sneaking on Skytrains when you don't have change, no more cock busdrivers, no more waiting in the rain, no more being late because the bus is late...I could go on for a while. I absolutely hated Transit. Their one saving grace, that's preventing me from taking a high powered rifle and camping across the street from transit headquarters in Vancouver, is that the Skytrain was okay. Reliable, fast, and fairly cheap. Deathtraps in summer (the old ones), but you can't have everything. |

I hate driving. But i hate public transit even more. The only time i will take a bus is living in whistler when there is too much snow. not like that happened this year tho. I guess I was spoilt as a kid. I was never made to take the bus and I got my lisence really quickly. I hate my car and I hate driving but I won't give it up.

You know people let's face it, driving is really much more convienent and practical for one's daily chores/work.
It's too bad that in the process we are fucking mother nature up and our ozone layer to the shits, like who wants to see cancer warnings on hot days? This is what bothers me about driving, I really hope electric cars start sprouting up in NA like they are in parts of Europe (thank God) - mistaking a smogline for a sunset might do that to ya, it did for me. |
