Plur.
No this is not another bandwagon suporting thread to hate on kandy kids.... but im seriously very curious as to how it works... someone wanna help me out? Yes i do know what it stands for... but how can it affect some of you so much as to you base your life around it? How can you be so happy etc etc etc... It's hard to get my questions out because i can't find the words to describe what i want to know but someone want to explain the mentality of a kandy kid etc etc.... and how it affects everyone so strongly when first getting into raving and then most turn into bitter ravers?... Gahhh.. so many questions... To be honest it seems so fake when they are that nice... Kandy kids/Ex-kandy kids/Non kandy-kids voice your thoughts.....
....why do i even care? lol.... its 4am and i can't sleep. |

um...personally ive only been raving since like...febuarary..and i dont really know or care much for the meaning of PLUR and to actually live by it, i dont see the need in it, as long as you dont shit disturb with people at raves, keep a good vibe goin, thats the most anyone can ask, we dont want candy kids running around and to each person thats isnt producing massively good vibes yelling PLUR in there face casue then you'll have some beat down candy kids at the end of the night....i think its more just to each his own.

one word can explain it all....drugs.
kandy kids are fuckin lame..grow up, pull the soother out of your mouth and buy some real jewellry you broke ass junkie...im really not that jaded but kandy kids are fuckin dumb, i like partying with cool and friendly people but they don't need to have all that excessive shit. kandy kids are just misguided people who've bought into to the most hurtingest of raver images, even more hurting then the average junglist. |

PLUR
-feared by many -laughed at by more -understood by very few ravers In my opinion PLUR has become cheap. I’ve been partying for 7years so I’ve seen a lot of different kids, djs, parties, and all round vibes in and out of the scene. Peace, Love, Unite, Respect………. We are not normal people we all know it. The out casts of our generation, why do we rave? Because we look for balance in our social lives, we need people we can relate to, we would rather spend the whole night dancing to some freaky ass music, with an unknown cocktail of chemicals flowing through our circulatory system. Then get a good nights rest for the day ahead of us. Why? PLUR We all look for support, respect and a sense of belonging in our young lives. We were brought into this world at a strange time in the history of man…..how do I deal with my fucked up world? I do what I feel is right. If I’m going to be part of this scene I feel I should add to it in a positive sense. If we don’t and our energy to stand out dies…. I may as well go back to djing in the Top40 clubs and hang out with all my chachy friends from high school. The bottom line is that we as ravers are different. PLUR is just a guide line that some people use to explain what it is that makes us different. No it’s not for every body. But as a promoter, dj and a member of this online community. I think the more PLUR the better. So if you are one of those vibey PLURy kids who always goes all out at the parties and has a deep dark desire for candy and fun fur. Don’t be afraid we are the ones who are winning. B |

/\ I totally agree with Soma.
PLUR is not about dressing up in Kandy and yelling at the top of your lungs to people who are looking bitter. It is based on basic human conditions. When I go to a rave and even outside of the party scene I try to maintain that attitude. Sure everyone has unplurry moments and to expect to be Plurry all the time is ridiculous but it is not hard to understand why you should be that way. Peace: I can't think of the last party I was at where there was a fight or brawl. One thing that differentiates this scene from say, the bar scene. Outside of parties do you go looking for fights? (Be they physical or mental?) If you do, you probably have deeper anger management issues that should be addressed. Love: Do you hate everything around you? Do you love yourself? Members of your family? Friends? Certain activities? If you can honestly answer no to this then why are you even still alive? I would not want to live in a condition where I had love for nothing. I would honestly feel pity for anyone who did. Unity: You have friends don't you? Most people go to parties to socailize. We are social animals and to have constant discord is unnatural for us. We go to parties because it is a unifying element in all our lives, something we like to do. If you didn't like it, why would you waste time/money going? Respect: The most basic of the 4 principles. Do you not want to be respected by others? Do you not respect other people? To say no to this is a lie. You dress a certain way to be accepted/respected by your social group. You do certain actions so that you respect yourself or are respected by others. This is also the first thing that I see many of the kids throw away. It goes for almost all the groups in the scene. Kandy kidz tend to not respect people's personal space, junglists tend to not respect anyone that doesn't fit into their "elite" group. Anyways, whether you like it or not, everyone shows a little PLUR in their everyday life. I personally don't understand the point of denying it for the sake of image or commercializing (thus cheapening it's meaning) for the sake of image either. Peace. |

respect is earned, tis true - but that doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful until that time. It doesn't matter what your beef is with the guy - he wasn't talking about it in his post, so you don't need to bring it up :) there are other threads full of donkey bashing and his remarks back - go post there we don't need every thread to be filled with it - |

But, unlike what you might think at this moment - I am not a jaded fool (fool maybe). PLUR's merits fall with the UR, and I'm pretty sure they didn't come before PL cause URPL is hard to pronounce (there was also probably some hippies involved). Unity and Respect are really the only two attainble longings of the acronym. Unity is a challenge because there are many factors involved, but no where other than (some, not all) parties have I been able to randomly talk to people on a regular basis and feel comfortable doing so (call it the 'vibe' if want) which is a good sign that there is still hope - steps forward have been made and we can go farther. Respect: we'll like that other guy said (and a few billion other people) - respect is earned. But that's much more on a personal level, I think what's really important here is the idea of respecting general human rights and freedoms as laid out in the Geneva convention (vague reference I know, but so is this topic - and all the kandy kid talk was boring me). Obviously that shit is meant on a much more political level but it is also written so that the same basic ideas hold up at any level. If everybody had that kind of respect for other people (doesn't mean you even have to like anybody) and for their world in general - things would be going a whole lot smoother on this planet. That isn't gonna happen anytime soon but no sense not trying to get it going and at the same time making life in our neck of the woods a little more tolerable and enjoyable. If you actually read all of this congratutions but you really should get back to work (i know i should...) Last edited by pbreak; Jun 02, 03 at 03:17 PM. |

learn it, use it, live it. Main Entry: meme Pronunciation: 'mEm Function: noun Etymology: alteration of mimeme, from mim- (as in mimesis) + -eme Date: 1976 : an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture Further, trying to really crack at why "kandy kids" (further, why any raver labelled by the type of music they enjoy/way they dress) think and act the way they do is tired, played out, flogged to death, etc. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH CORN NUTS? |
