Red Bull
I know there have been posts about this stuff before, but I don't want to have to look way back to find it.
This stuff is GOOD! It works great! I just picked up 2 cans on Friday in the states, and drank them this weekend...and they actually WORKED. I'm going to have to go back this weekend to pick up some more. I wish we could get them up here. I know some clubs have them if you ask for them, but I wish they sold them in the 7-11 up here or something. Anyone know WHY we don't have them in Canada? -desiree |

Something to do with some of the ingredients not being sanctioned for use in Canada yet.... I'm sure it doesn't help hearing about the horror stories of people having heart attacks from drinking one too many red bull and vodkas.

Well, the states are alot closer to me than downtown is so I go to the states.
Next question...Are we ALLOWED to bring it across the border with them knowing? Geez. Stupid question, I know, but if they're not allowed to sell it up here, why would we be allowed to take it into the country. Anyways, as stupid as the answer may be, please answer it for me. Thanks desiree |

My guess is that you can bring it up for personal use... as far as I know (but don't quote me on this), it is legal for you to consume it here as a personal user but it's illegal for a business to sell it due to the fact that some of the ingredients aren't sanctioned for use in Canada.
What I don't get is how bars and such are allowed to sell it... unless they actually sell a knock off version of it that kinda bypasses the laws..... |

the Euro/US version in a blue+grey can has taurine in it which is not approved for consumption here in Canada.
the red bull available here that comes in little bottles is supposedly taurine free and is imported from thailand, where the stuff originally comes from. i have a feeling that the importer (which is based in richmond) is pulling a bit of a labelling scam.. on the thai bottles the thai label has been covered with an english label. i've seen a bottle without the english cover, and there are far more ingredients and different amounts listed on the thai label... (i obviously couldn't translate the thai hieroglyphs) furthermore certain sites on the internet claim that the thai version does contain taurine, so who knows. taurine is definately the reason why you're not supposed to be able to buy the US version here, though. red bull is a lot more common in eastern canada.. it's sold at virtually all corner stores in montreal. if this shop on denman has red bull in cans then it probably is not legit. if you're having trouble finding red bull in cans then there then there's always bev.net: http://www.beveragesdirect.com/brows...roduct-378.asp but it's expensive.
