Revelstoke--->Valemont OR Golden----> Valemont (driving question)

So I'm heading to mount 7 in Golden this weekend to do the DH race. But I go to work on Monday in a town called Valemont, north of Kamloops. Here is what I want to know:

1) Would it be faster for me to drive to Golden, do the race, come home to Revelstoke sunday night and head up th Valemont via Kamloops or....

2) Pack all my shit up, do the race in Golden and then head to Lake Louise, then north to Jasper and then across the Yellowhead and down to Valemont?
