I'm in the beginning stages of training for the Vancouver Adidas Marathon next May.... I have a half marathon in November. Running is one of those things where its hard to get into it and keep your motivation but once you do its a great feeling.
I'm to the point now that if I miss my run I feel like shit. My body is dependent on the exercise almost. |

yah i ran again today.. my body is dependent on swimming... so i still gotta do that at least two or three times a week to be happy.
its easy to push myself in running now, i used to hate it up until yesterday. it doesnt give me the all over tired body feeling swimmin does, but my legs feel amazing. |

quick question.. if you have smoked for 3 years.... and if you quit... how long do you think it will take to be able to run normally again? see.... i miss running... and i'm quitting smoking.... but is 3 years of smoking like a pack every 2 days enough to leave perm damage causing me to not be able to get back to that level i was at before smoking?

ie i think it would take you a fair while to get back to where you were. i mean, you were injuring your lungs for 3 straight years |

I remember I used to hate running in gym class because I used to smoke pot religiously for three years and that drastically affected my performance.
I've quit now.. since January 1st 2003, and 6 1/2 months later I'm only beginning to see results and changes so it does take a while. But regardless, I feel so much better and I can run for longer periods of time. I started going to the gym about half a month ago and I find I actually enjoy the treadmills unlike my stoner days when I used to hate them. So congrats on quitting smoking and just take it step by step to getting back at the level where you were before. |

i used to run track and cross country but i fucked up my knees playing soccer. and my left knee is especially fucked up cuz i used to be a high jumper and i'd use my left knee as my take off foot and i guess there was just way more weight put on my left knee. and i used to run a lot of hurdles and that fucked up my knees even more. i still play soccer at university but i can't run for too long. i have "squinting patellas" (yes...that's what the condition is called).

Cross Country team since like Grade 2, but I gave that stuff up after highschool. After a long Track season, you lose so much weight.
If you want Abs though, then RUN. Run like the wind. At the very end of each Track/Cross Country season, I had abs that could grate cheese. I swear by it :). |

i run Richmond's west dike on a regular basis
it is great! nice scenery (ducklings, rabbits, herons, flowers) and nice people (people exercising are always friendly) it's hard to get into at first, but once you do....it's fantastic. it's time for new shoes :( |
