According to MapQuest.com:

Total Distance: 1421.25 km

Total Estimated Time: 28 hours, 41 minutes

You friend is right, however. It is 16 hours.... by ferry!

I find it strange when people say Calgary in 9 hours. I drive there a couple of time a year and two weekends ago I drove 140 the whole way and it took 12 hours.

People still swear they can do in in 9 but I never can.

That's pretty good time Beach Bum. My friend who is originally from there once told me that it's about 10-13 hours depending on travel factors.

P.S. Prince Rupert is farther north than people may be assuming.

which way are you going? if you can take the coquihalla through and then continue on the number one? i don't know why you're not making time...

i lived there for five years...and just moved back to van a year ago...but have been going back and forth for a while now...and yes. i make it in just over 9 hours...
you're friend and you are going too slow!!!
heh.
it does depend on weather...i've been lucky enough to have pretty good weather most times.

10 hours to Clagary in my Honda Civic
and like 650 to Prince rupert - more then one ferry involved and plenty o'driving

so I'd say 16 hours is a fair estimate

you must be driving 180 the whole way.
i live 2.5 hours from cow town and 8.5 hours from vancouver, that's 11 hours from van to calgary, non stop and speeding.

just one of the perks of working in film.

yup it takes 15-16hours if you start at the crack of dawn and you get to vancouver around rush hour.

longer if you stop and stay the night.

i can't remember how long it takes my ferry, but it's pretty damn long, and a pretty damn rocky sleep.

only 2 and a half hours flight though.

stina.
