This province that we live in.
BC has quite a few exports....this whole province is righ with natural resources that other provinces (and countries) simply don't have.
I was watching the news the other day and saw a most interesting little bit of information... BC's second highest export is forestry and lumber. It brings 5.6 BILLION dollars into this province annually. BC's top export is marijuana. Did you know that marijuana brings 6.0 BILLION dollars to BC every year? It is officially considered our most valuable resource. What do you guys think about legalizing the drug? Or at least decriminalizing it? What effect would it have on our economy? What about other substances? Should it be taxed? What about a trade system with Holland? People against the decriminalization of pot say it's a gateway drug that leads to others. That legalizing it would only open up the forum for other drugs and activities to now become legal. opinions people? Personally I think that we should lead the pack. Not legalize weed cuz that could lead to disaster. But decriminalize it and then add a government tarrif onto it much like those of gas and alcohol. The money could be put to good use in areas like health care and funding for progams for BC's homeless population. It's a matter of time before it happens...we might as well be the first to test the waters and have our system form a solid foundation in the matter. This way when others follow suit, BC will be one of the world's most established and high quality marijuana producers. But that's just my own opinion. |
