cell phone companies?
okay so ive been using fido for about....2 years now. at first i thought i had a wicked plan... 100 local mins, unlimited nights and weekends....$35 bucks. (probably one of fido's better promotional offers). when i went to school i didn't have too much daytime phone calls to make other than calls to mommy forgetting my lunch or something.. so that plan worked for me.
now im ms. talkalot.. and my phone bill skyrocketed.. since i added text msging, and the $30+ over amount of extra mins.....this is getting a little frustrating. having my phone bill take up most of my paycheck.. not cool. AND being stuck with the stupid 3390... that limits me to a stupid amount in the phonebook...and a battery that dies within a few hours. frustrating. they say i can't get a deal on a new phone because im using their old promotion...and they can't give me 2 deals at once..so if i get a new phone...it would be reg price..and thats pretty nasty. -what company do you perfere and what plan do you use? -any suggestion on phone... lil fancy but not too pricey. -experiences with companies? i personally love fido for the per second billing...i think it saves money..but it still adds up. i dont mind contracts...since i dont like too much change anyways. i just need a better plan with a better deal.. i dont want to spend more than 50....60max on a phone bill. |

I also used to use the 35$ promo plan with fido, until I switched phones and companies. Now that I'm with bell, i use the 40$ promo plan where I get 300 day time minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends. Despite the per minute billing, it's hard to go over 300 minutes as my free eveninings start at 6:00pm anyways.
I liked fido for their per second billing. i think it's lame that if you use one minute and one second of your phone it gets rounded up to 2 minutes. I think fido is the only company that does per second billing, and they have excellent customer service... Bell mobiltty on the other hand (which I am with right now) does per minute billing and their customer service reps, aren't exactly THAT helpful. I personaly really liked the nokia 3390. Mine served me quite well, for the full two years that I'd used it. Right now my bf is still using it and it works just fine. I miss the stupid features, like composer and calendar. My new phone, as nice as the design is, such a bunch of crap. the reception is TERRIBLE, the battery heats up after 10 minutes use, and the features are more business oriented... Oh, if you ever buy a bell phone, go to GRAHAM HALL at wireless wave in metro. He's HOT. |

^^ i'm with bell, like yoko.
but i've been liking it. i got one of those cute little flip fones (the audiovox cdm8500 or something ike that for $179. would be cheaper, but i'm month by month, don't want a contract) my plan is 200 day time minutes, and unlimited evenings and weekends, with callerid, per SECOND billing, call waiting, voicemail, etc, for $30. BUT i have one of the corporate plans (surrey school district if anyone else from surrey wants the same plan). i've had no problems with customer service either. they screwed up my first bill (accidently but only weekends, instead of nights) and i called and now they're just giving me a credit for both. plus i got the same plan i would have if i was on contract, when i'm not. so i'm totally happy with them (and a little buzzed right now, so don't mind the grammar/crap spelling whatever). don't go with rogers though! they like to fuck peopleo ver. i no like. |

i like my bell, but i get per second billing.. hehe GO CORPORATE PLANS!#%$
i HATE rogers though. they pissed me off royally. and i was with them for 2+ years. they suck assmar. at they coulda had customer service reps with funny accents, but no. all they had was news 1130 when your put on hold (which you ALWAYS are) i've never called the bell customer service reps.. only my dad has. but they seemed nice enough. |

I don't know much about Bell so I can't help you there.
Rogers : Pros: -Cheap plans -Customizable phones (Nokia phones) Cons: -Horrible reception -Cheap quality phones (Nokia) Telus: Pro: -Plans are good -Awsome looking phones (a520) and cheap if u sign a contract -Reception is the best, even up @ SFU Con: -Phones are expensive if you loose em -D/ling ringtones costs $.50 for all phones Telus has pay as you go. There selection of Pay as u go isnt bad either. Telus offers monthly benfits for there users. I'm a telus corporate wh0re. Atleast another 2 years. :soak: If u have any questions, hollah back Ms. Beeeb000!! `t1m |

I'd say stick with Fido, ask them if there is any way you can change plans, I am too with Fido on one of their promotional plans which is basically the same as yours but with 300 day time mins. for 45 bux a month. Fido tend to give special deals to long time customers, so ask them and find out, you will have to phone them, I'd say stay away from rogers, all my friends have various phones with them and all of them have shitty reception. I like fido because a) still billing by the second and b) it's month to month but NOT contract.

my buddy got a fido phone with a color screen for about $50 after rebate. I'm not sure what his plan is but usually Fido has good offers. Also, If you learn how to sweet talk or even threaten to cancel your phone plan, they'll try to keep you as a customer and throw you free stuff and/or cheaper shiet.
good luck! |

talormade is tempting me with that offer....
i went to a fido store during my break today and the sales herself even told me to threaten the customer service a bit and they "SHOULD" give me a deal on a new phone or upgrade my plan... or else i can pay 45 a month for the 300 mins unlim weekends and nite plan. |
