SkyBar
I was downtown last night and went by the SkyBay (for those that dont know it's a new club in downtown vancouver).
This club looks like the sickest layout (3 floors, + rooftop patio), anyone know anything about it? I heard that it was 25+ only. |

25+ is their target audience but not necessarily their requirement from what I heard. I read in the paper today that the bar cost 5million to put together and is basically expected to be the hottest place downtown for the next while... apparently nobody can compete with how sick this place is... I wanna check it out myself. I guess I'm gonna have to barstar myself up for a night!!!

ha,
the reason it cost so much is beause they kept changing their minds on the layout... my company installed 3 different pairs of overhead doors for them... and they paid for each set, at about $6000 a pair, that makes for a lot of wasted money. apparently it is quite nice though, and they're marketing it to be a really upscale club. They were planning on putting in a "secret room", where these overhead doors would come down from the ceiling and make a private area for "VIP" people to do their "VIP" business.... but that changed because the doors we ended up putting are glass, so there's going to be no privacy! should be worth checking out , though |

I've been there twice this week. Want my review as a partier?
The sound quality was not so good. The outdoor patio was the most poorly sounded room of the club, and the layout is pretty horrendous if you try to think about how the traffic flow should be directed. It will be the hottness for a while, simply because of the hype, and i think they deserve it because they finally opened! finally. The women there were exactly that. women. so much older than what i'm into, but the younger ones i did see... damn. as for the glass elevator, i saw a girl fix her boob, which made the $160,000 (bullshitted number i made up) well worth it. I think there are many more clubs that are much better, like sugar and sugar, but, if that's what we wanna see in vancouver clubs... so be it. Dancing seems awkward, lots of places to just sit and drink, the bouncers wear these ugly colored shirts, and the music was horrible both nights i went. but, it just opened. i'm sure it'll get better. |

i got hired for skybar back in feb. when it was supposed to open in march. obviously that never happened. all i know..is that the management is no different from bars that were already open. sleaze sleaze sleaze. but what else is new? especially when the company is known for paying for girls boobs jobs who work there for over 2 years at their calgary bars. i dont know if its true but it wouldnt surprise me.
From what i heard from friends that went to opening night, it was a good time. The sound could improve but apparently it was worth the wait. And just tell the city of vancouver that the rock and christian slater were there and you'll have a line up for months. worked for caprice when vin diesel went there. ill have to check it out soon for sure. and hey shawn...you never told me you were rich. heh |

I suppose Vancouver has been itching for a high class club. Maybe this is what the scene needs. I will defitnetly check it out and see if the hype and delay was worth it.
3 floors eh? Do they have 3 different genres of music? If they don't, then they haven't really advanced in terms of clubs. `t1m |

Vancouver has their fair share of "high class clubs"....problem is, most people don't realise it, or care enough to make the distinction. "High Class Club" just means expensive drinks for expensive people. |
