I still have the flyer around my apartment somewhere. It's simple, cute anime girl with cat ears on it...

If I could find it, I could tell you.

And why I've held onto it for years? I couldn't tell you :|

YOU were at Spooky one?? I thought we decided you hadn't been there? wouldn't you have been 14 at the time??

Spooky was my 3rd party and it kicked ass, i forget the lineup completely but I know the music rocked and the vibe was easily one of the best i've ever seen - course the drugs might of had some influence on that...

hee hee...I couldn't remember if that was spooky one or two...but I have been around for awhile... *old man voice* I remember when there were no junglists or candy kids because we all just called ourselves ravers, I remember when ecstasy was just called X, I remember when jungle, D&B, hardhouse, breaks, etc was all just called Techno, I remember when raving was done in small venues and it was totally on the down lo and the only way to find out about them was to either get scouted at a bar or through a friend, I remember when there were no VIP lines, I remember when there was no set price for a ticket and you would be let in for free if you really had no cash but everyone would put a 5 or 10 in the donation jar at the front just so the promoters could put on another party and if someone didn't have the dough one of their friends would throw a few bucks in on their behalf, I remember being able to go to a party and be able to introduce yourself to anyone there and get a hug from them by the end of the night, I remember when we all would just come to dance and the hardest drug there was weed...ah memories."

^^I don't know if I can say I've been around THAT long (the things you describe sound very early 90's ish) - I think I came in somewhere around the transition phase of what you speak of to what we have now. I do remember being on the shuttle bus for Spooky 1 (now those I miss!!) and one of my Residence Advisors from UBC was on the bus with us - kinda weirded me out cauz they were supposed to responsible or some shit, and then later he was doing drugs with us and partying with us and was really cool about everything - especially afterward... I haven't really had many good experiences like that in a while - i think that's what i miss but maybe I don't have them anymore (at least like that) cauz i'm just not 18 anymore.... oh well.

pbreak,

I went to the Spooky party in 97 it was my first party, not sure if that was the first or second one and the weirdest thing was that i was on that shuttle with the Totem Residence president. Don't know if you are talking about the the same guy (amit) hehe. I Had no ticket going to the party but luckly someone on the shuttle had an extra ticket to sell.
I still have the flyer and i'll get it scanned up here soon.

So the question is do I keep the yearly tradition up and go for the 8th year in a row?. Damn i feel old.

Yah, i lived in totem too (3rd Kwak) - we had a fullout raver cru back then, was pretty cool - we used to take the 41 right from Totem to Joyce St Station (usually where the buses were), and just take it back on Sunday morning and have sketchy Sunday morning caf sessions with all the do-gooders that actually woke up at 7am on a Sunday (i can only imagine what they thought of us :hehe: ). I do remember Amit - kinda hard to forget - he used to party with us a bit in 1st year and did see him out a few times in 2nd year (when he was prez) but my story was from my 1st year ('96). But I think you understand the trippiness of the situation - what house did you live in, especially since we lived there at the same time?

I used to blaze with those boys on a regular basis in the forest and in the Thunderbird underground parking lot stairwell (kinda hurtin when you think about it, but you could see and it was dry - makes life easier for doin knives) - hell, i might even have sold you some funguys (were you a mushhead then??)
