I think it's pretty unprecedented as far as her work goes, in this one she uses a male character (first time she's ever done that) and it has a much darker more sci fi tone to it than her other works. I really don't find her other stuff 'feminist', amazingly enough most of the more feminist works I've read were all written by male authors. I think for males if you want to buffer yourself into atwood, check out Orace and Crake because it has a lot of things that would appeal to a male audience (science fiction theme, technology in it, male characters, etc.)
I think I'll do that, right after crime and punishment though so it could be while. Oh, and the feminist thing was just a joke, albeit a bad one :152:

I just finished Terry Brooks' new novel Jarka Ruus.

My bedtime book is David and Leigh Eddings' The Redemption of Althalus, and my bus book is The Hedge of Mist by Patricia Kennealy-Morrison.

ooh, Ayn Rand - careful with that, it's worth reading but some people tend to get a little carried away with her style of "philosophy" - and I use the term loosely.

Whatever, that philosophy has a cult following. As long as you don't get carried away with objectivism, it's fascinating to read about.

What am I reading through right now?

Well on a daily basis, I read at least 100+ resumes, not to mention emails, RFP's, RFQ's, news on the net plus other inter-office communications.

"on photography" by susan sontag (no it's not a textbook)

and i'm gonna start a new book next week after my friend is done with it...i can't remember the name of it but its about the civil war in Rwanda and it's written by a reporter...it chronicles the events leading up to the civil war and the actual civil war itself...and has witnessed accounts of the horrors that went on in 1994 and onwards. i'm really looking forward to read it because i actually got to visit Rwanda in late 94 but never got the chance to understand the reasoning behind the war between the hutus and tutsis.

Recently I've read "Sushi for beginners" and "Rachel's Holiday" by Marian Keyes. And next I'm going to read "Angels" by her as well.
Right now I'm reading "The Navigation Log" by Martin Corrick. It's about a set of twin boys who are born right at the end of the great war and live (hopefully!) through WW2.
My bf is on a sci fi kick and reading everything by Terry Brooks.
