fido isnt growing. its the smallest of the cell phone company's out there. companys that are doing well don't need to run rediculous deals like this. (if its not broke, dont fix it). the profit margin is next to nothing for fido on this deal.
this is their last straw to build the company back.... hence trying to get people with other services to switch over to theirs. its a great deal though, my little brother seems to like it alot.. couple dead areas downtown though. Kyle. |

like i said if this was fido's last straw why haven't they closed down? A lot of people said the exact same thing about fido when they had that promotion with the 3390. Just another case of unproven facts just like that other dude who said Rogers was comin out with a new plan.

Microcell which is the company that owns Fido, financially isn't doing that well at all and in fact, were close to claiming bankruptcy! -- I've been a Fido customer since 1998, when they first came out and they've been great to me.
The CityFido plan (which I am on now and an INSANE deal might at add) is a plan designed to do one thing, increase market share and take customers away from Cantel/AT&T, Telus and Bell Mobility. Before switching my plan to this new CityFido plan (which I added a bunch of options to it and my bill is still less than half of what I was paying before!), I talked on the phone with the Fido rep for like 30 minutes. No contracts, no fine print... he admitidly told me, we are trying to gain marketshare right now. I am sure this is another way of increasing the value of the overall stock price for Microcell... we will soon see! That tells me that rates will eventually go up in some way... only time will tell! |

maybe this is redundant, but I think it's a super idea if you're living in the city because then you get good reception and you have the freedom to roam. If I lived anywhere even outside of downtown though, I probably would not consider it.

ive been a fido user for 4+ years, and i have lived northshore, kerrisdale and downtown. i have had the phone on me all over the greater vancouver area with work, and i've never had a reception problem.
i have no idea what you kids are talking about with shitty reception. move out of the boonies and get a better phone. fido customer service is awesome. a corprate account i had a number with was cancelled, and i was able to phone up and within an hour i had my old number pulled out of dormancy and into a brand new contract. try that with a huge company (lol!). if you have been a long term customer, they have no problem giving you a deal on a new phone if you call them. they always send you an sms if you're near the end of your monthly minutes. most of my professional contacts and coworkers are on fido and i've never heard a peep out of them. fido is rad. |

I've been with Fido for over 3 years and I don't really have any complaints. I only used to whine about service with my old piece of crap phone, but now that I've splurged on the Nokia 7210 I haven't had any problems with service.
Fido has excellent customer service - they've even called me on several occasions to suggest different plans that would be a better deal for me than the plan I was on at the time. |

You are right... there are some I would love to lose, but that's the only benefit I see. Quote:
Next time I'll come over and bug you with a beer. I saw you busy snapping pics all over the place so I didn't want to disturb you. |

and they are working with sprint canada , u cna sign up to do youre long distance through them, and only pay 5 cents a minute anywhere in canada.
i switched to fido in the summer just caus ei was so pissed at telus, and ive been very happy and now with this plan, my bills are 51 dollars a monthand that includes voicemail call display call alert and forwarding, the other good thing is u dotn have to pay the 6.95 amonth service fee, i guess cause its considered a house line. and if u think abotu it , u still pay long distance of a dollar a minute roughly if youre with in whistler and trying to call youre house , in the lower mainland, this way u can talk whenever witht he 5 cents aminute plan through sprint. as far as reception goes, i ve had no problems and use to have shittier reception wiht telus (in coquitlam) than i do now with fido, everywhere ive been around the lower mainland (langley maple ridge , mission, aldergrove) my phone works fine, and my phone only cost me 50 bucks , its the lil blue siemens one and u dotn have to sign a 3 year contract with bag of shit telus, to get a half decent phone for under 200 dollars that actually works, that was my biggest problem was that if u wanted a decent phone from telus or rogers u haveto sign a hella long contract other wise the phone u get sucks id suggest that everyone rethink there plans with telus and rogers and move over to fido, i think its 100 dollars for every year of oyure contract to get out of it |
