Sounds like an awesome deal. I'm just wondering about reception in certain areas - I heard the network has problems and you can't pick up a signal quite often - or moreso than other cellular providers. Has anyone had any problems like this???

Fido RF is best within the city
Rogers is best outside the city Bell /Telus is best in the boonies Reception also depends on the type of phone you have. If you have a shit phone you got for free, then reception is equal to that. If you have a $$$ like my Sony Ericsson T616 then youhave excellent reception, it also depends on the firmware the software is running. Fido customers have the best reception within the downtown city area, The only thing different from CityFido and all the other plans is that you can PORT your home landline numbers to your mobile phone, the providers can only provide 'unlimited' usage, and if it's Rogers.. READ THE FINE PRINT. When Fido first started 3 years ago.. ppl got dropped calls and shit, then again they were a new provider. 3-4 years later.. excellent reception, no dropped calls. I agree with Narc. Generally when i don't get reception (and i'm using a motorola v60i) users from telus and rogers don't have reception either.
I'm very satisfied with this new plan. The good thing about fido and rogers is that they have a SmartCard or known as a SimCard. Telus does not have this which doesn't benefit their users. Why? because Telus users always have to re-enter every single phone number into their new phone and believe me it's a pain in the ass. Another thing is that every telus user will be using the same phone as everybody else. EG. LG-520 Samsung A540 and A-520. While when you are under rogers or fido you can buy a lot of phones that use the cards which are majority nice cell fones lol. |

coming from a company that was not too long ago declaring bankruptcy. sound like a cry for help. fuck the dog. Rogers has had gsm for like 2 years and is covered all across canada. fido has had gsm for like 5-6 years and has the worst coverage out of any company. covering only vancouver and only bits and pieces of each of the provinces. don't you think thay would have built more towers by now within the 5-6 years. they must be making no money.
NO CONTRACT????? which also means they can take this plan away from u when ever. they're going for volume.....not cash. which any idiot will always know never works. also it costs a cell company like 300 bux just to activate a customer. meaning they wont be making money til the contract is up unless the customer is going over there mins like mad. ANd think about all the people coming over from other countries using this no contract bullshit for like 2 months before they go back home costing fido 300 bux to activate and only making 80bux for the 2 months the customer is here. soundas like a good plan hey. i hope they die. pffff fido. FUCK THE DOG! -jeff- Last edited by taylormade; Oct 27, 03 at 03:08 AM. |

anyone have any opinions on this phone?? I'm buyin out my contract with telus cuz it's complete crap..... so i need to get a fido phone now..... i'm NOT willing to spend a rediculous amount on a stupid ass phone. done that once and it was stolen form me within 6 months. any suggestions? |

Everybody that has either a Telus phone or a Rogers Phone who have been on contract with the company over 6 months read this!
You can report your phone to be stolen instead payin out the contract. Switch your current plan from what the current price is to the lowest per month which is $20. It is a lot cheaper this way than to buy out the rest of your contract. Just pay the $20 a month because there will be no penalty fee as well it'll save u money. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and i'll explain with better details. Filo:My mom has that phone and it's a decent phone. However, the v60i is only at the cheap price of $150 which is a very good offer for that phone. |

Filo:that's pretty much what i've been suggesting. Usually when u buy out ur contract it's usually at the current price of your monthly bill. If telus is letting u buy out the contract at $20 dollers a month then that's good. However before you agree to anything just ask them if there is a penalty fee. If there is report your phone stolen and change your plan to $20 per month for the remainder of your contract. This way you won't have to pay the penalty fee.

Rogers is a business customer based provider. Where Fido is not. Fido is directed towards the single student/bachelor individual struggling to pay rent, food and survive while going to school, work etc. If your really bent on coverage then get a GSM phone, buy a prepaid Rogers SIM card when you travel outside the general area, then pop in your Fido SimCard when you come back home. yea i calculated and with my 100 text msging and voice msg bundle..and all the service fees it comes out at around 56/57 dollars a month. i called in 2 days ago and it starts on my next bill..im quite excited.
what is up with ppl sayin fido has shitty reception? ive been perfectly fine EVERYWHERE except for of course chilliwack and inside the gymnasium at sfu. i trust fido..and will be sticking to it. |

i had fido before, then telus, now rogers, and i must say rogers has been my fav of the 3. best reception all around, cheap plans, good phones, and i've never had a customer service problem. AND rogers will be offering a plan identical to cityfido, with voicemail and caller id, for the same price.

that won't hppen no more. All calls from chilliwack to vancouver are now free. Plus the fact that they've built towers there just makes me more happy. As of right now this plan will only be for vancouver users only. This is how fido works. No contract meaning this. IF you start up with fido now and get the unlimited talk plan you will have it for the rest of your life UNLESS you close your line. So if you keep paying fido even though the promotion is over you still have the unlimited talk plan no matter what. Even if it's OVER!!!! Last edited by -DLO_604-; Oct 27, 03 at 08:24 AM. |

what i meant is that rogers already has a 6 month promotion thing for it's customers. As of right now i highly doubt rogers will come out with that plan. If telus doesn't neither would rogers. Mind you fido is only doing this to steal customers from majority of telus.
How do i know? Think about it. Telus provides land lines and what have fido done? Basically changed ur cell phone to your home phone and e_boy i have had no problems with fido at all. though i have heard of complaints of fido having shitty service out in the boonies because they don't have towers there. but apparently they do now. This isn't the first time that people have spread the rumour that Fido is going bankrupt. Remember when they had that 3390 promotion when the 3390 just came out? Fido is still around and they are smart as far as i'm concerned Last edited by -DLO_604-; Oct 27, 03 at 08:30 AM. |

I guess you haven't noticed the full page advertisements in the newspaper regarding Rogers match to the CityFido plan. telus has the same thing but it's only avail in the east |
