For 2 technics 12 MKII you're looking at about $1500.00 + tax.
Then toss in a mixer you're looking at around another $400.00 + tax. Then toss in a decent pair of headphones which will run at least $150.00 + tax. Now toss in vinyl, needles and various other expenses. You're looking at over $2K and you don't even have anything to play on it. |

i disagree hardstylin...
i started out spinning on a real shitty table and a belt driven. if you can spin (and sound good) on shitty tables, you'll sound like god when spinning on techs. (or in my case, ttx's) personally, i would recommend getting shitty tables, probably used, if you can find any, cuz 1, what if you don't like it, then you can sell the tables (and if they're used it wont matter) and 2, if you get good on shitty tables, once again, you'll sound like god when spinning on techs. im only tellin ya from experience. peace mike |

^^ that sounds pretty close to w2hat long and mcquade has...
so is stanton shitty of the shittiest or are they decent(good to leanr on) i was thinkinbg shitty tables cuz that would make sence....if yu sound good on shitty tables...then obviously quality tables are gonna make yu sound fuckin pro...so ill do that.....i just need to know if the price and the make iz decent.... |

^right...
I'm not going to get in to it either but I will say this.... if you are going to drop some coin. don't buy crap. I did learn on a pair of belt driven GEMINIs and they got the job done but find a friend with decks and start buying vinyl now. I work at l&m so if I see any used decks come through the store I'll let ya know, they'll be at least a couple hundered bux cheaper. |

buy some Gemini Xl100s (belt drives )........sweeet tables:y:
:hehe: no seriosly.......I think it would be good to invest in decent tables from the start ( tech12s ). If you don't like djing any more it will be much easier to sell them ( as stated above )!! The mixer is not as important to get a "top-of-the-line" model right away....but get a decent one, with the basic eqs & faders. |
|
|||
don't go cheap, I started that way.
The fact is if you go cheap and don't like it, your going to sell the decks at a huge hit. If you like spinning your going to sell the decks at a huge hit and then buy 1200's or something similar. At least if you buy 1200's from the get go you won't lose much on them, they hold their value. |

You can get some used technics MKII for not more than $550 each.
IF you want to sell them you can sell them for the same price cuz the value never really goes down on them. Atleast that's what i experienced. Then just buy a cheap mixer to start out on or borrow someone's old mixer and you ready to go.. Good luck |

Equipment is not important at all whun it comes to DJing <Selecta>. It is all about image. Naw mean?
I've bin out of da rap game fa da last 2 months cause my mixin finga is injured but i know dat wot yous should do is go purchase a new fubu track suit and a dew rag. Also yous will need a massiv to join. Boh Selecta! Dont listun to these geezas cause dey is nothin but a crew of batty boys! BOH! |

Ebays absolutely your best bet for getting a good setup.
if you have a credit card, sign up with ebay and pay through paypal. As long as a seller has a high feedback rating you'll get what you pay for. i'd say either get tech 1200's or the numark ttxs. on ebay, you can get a pair of either for about 615 american plus shipping. selecting a mixer depends on what you want to do with your djing. if you want to scratch get a rane or a vestax. if you want something for mixing and a efx pioneer djm 600's are good. Also look on here for deals, and at local record shops like boomtown. always good setups to be had. one thing to remember though. the price of the set up costs nothing. you'll forget about that 6 months after when you've spend 1000's more on records. good luck! |

also remember jay-jay, that if u are planning on doing both scratching and mixing, a mixer like the pmc-07pro from vestax is a good buy... has 3-band EQ, which is good for mixing, and a crossfader curve.. its a little knob that adjusts how slow the sound comes in on ur crossfader... if u have it all the way to one side the sound well slowly come in as u move the crossfader over(for mixing records).. of if u have the knob turned all the way to the other side it'll cut the sound in really sharp and quickly as u slide the crossfader over(for scratching) ... just something to keep in mind when choosing a mixer
