I'd have to agree with mistress spank me. on everything she said.
I'd have to add tho that agencies DO have certain advantages as long as you follow small guidelines and not have high expectations they can often offer instant breaks. Guideline 1: stick with the reputable companies. They are the first place most major advertisers go to for models (as there are plenty to chose from or, they could mean a complete waste of time and money. I personally think a portfolio should be very versatile. so model as much as you can, and be very picky with what you put in! Be proud of everythign you do, and i personally believe that should extend through every single shot. as professionalism goes a short way, and only dictates your initial impression. 'oh, he was very pro' And knowing lots of people helps too. be nice every where you go. but remember to always get yourself ahead in the end (you can't do free jobs forever). experiment with photographers as their product may surprise you. everyone has their own style, so fish around. also have an idea of what kind of a model you want to be. fashion, glamour, nude, print, run way, commercial, etc. present yourself the way you want to be seen. meet as many people as you can, and get as much information as you can about the industry. i guess modelling really depends on how far you want to take yourself. and who you meet. Be nice to everyone but don't get walked on. |

modellin or no modelling i think its fun for teens/young adults to have a portfolio of themselves. something kind of interesting to do and look back at in the future... photoshoots are fun and having a collection of your hot self can be kinda interesting when you're old and wrinkly.
im looking into something for myself right now.. just makin a for fun portfolio. there is a certain style im looking for as well. comes in handy for myself and also adds to the photographer's portfolio as well. definately something on my life long "to do list". |
