whenever i do that...when i wake up..it's SO hard to take them off..
some chick fell asleep in the library the other day and was in the washroom for a good 1/2 hour trying to find out where in her eye one of them went!..i helped her out a bit cuz i had some drops with me...i hate when that happens tho~ |

i used to do that all the time cause i would fall asleep before i'd get a chance to take them out. lol. moreso back in the hardcore raving days when i didn't have a regular sleep schedule and i'd just pass out randomly all the time. but yeah, it's SO bad for your eyes and it makes em hurt! if i'm ever in a situation where i don't have a case to put them in, i just take a glass with water and dump em in there. it's better than keeping them in.

It's not the best thing for you to do as your eyeball will 'suffocate' with the dry contact lens laying on top of it.
Side effects are microvein growth along the outer edge of the contact lens in order to compensate for the lack of oxygen getting to the eye. Blistering will occur at the back of the top eyelid where the eyeball contacts due to lack of oxygen and irritation due to protien development. This blistering occurs very, very mildly for anyone that does wear contacts but gets much worse for those who do not take care of the lenses. Also protien buildup can cause eye infection if you rub your eye when it is irritated. Go to an optometrist and have them show you the chart of just how bad the eyeball and underside of the eyelid can get due to lack of contact lens care and removal and you'll never sleep with them in your eyes again. |

Extended wear contacts have a higher water content in the lens (50-75%), compared to regular soft lenses (30-50%), which allows for higher oxygen transfer to the eye.
I am pretty anal about my eyesight as it is my belief that it is the one gift I have that I would never want to lose. So if I had to weigh the potential damage of leaving a lens in my eye vs. the inconvenience of taking it out daily it is a no brainer for me. |

uugghghh thats the worst feeling ever.. having to peel them off your eyeball after waking up. it hurts like a bitch.
then there's the few drunken nights where i've been smart enough to take them out before i fall asleep, but forget that i did that in the morning. Yes trying to peel off your cornea is not a good idea kids. |

ive never had a problem with sleeping with them in.. sometimes when i come home from school i head straight to bed and take a nap... and when i wake up its a little uncomfortable at first, but after blinking a few times its normal
the same applies to when i have a full nights sleep with them in too.. i just recently (well about 2 months ago) changed contact solutions to the hydrogen peroxide kind that neutralizes into saline and let me just say... cleans the lens soo much better! :D |

haha Oh and Winston, those lens are rather old in a way. They had them way back a while ago, my dad used to have them. Took em off the market for a bit and now they're back with new ones? But the idea isn't too new.. I wouldn't get them simply because I don't like wearing contacts all the time. I like my glasses.. |

A friend of mine told me the first time she slept with her contacts in she woke up the next day and all she could see was white, she thought she was DEAD! Another friend always puts his contacts in bottle caps filled with water(when he's forgotten the case, of course) when it's time for bed after a hard night of partying.

i was just complaining about this to one of my friends.
i woke up from my nap and realized i had my contacts in. it sucks so bad cuz my eyes get really dry ..really fast (apparently i dont blink right? ). it took me almost half an hour to take em out and watta pain that was. i noticed some people keep thiers in water.. now ...i've tried that once and i could not wear mine after. they get stuck to my eye right away. :finger: i hate contacts. but i also hate not seein properly without em. :finger: :finger: |
