I love the dystopian genre, but I love it because I always find that the novels are more profound, more deeply philosophical, like 1984 or Brave New World... Fahrenheit 451 progressed way too quickly (I did finish it in an hour after all) and was so incredibly simplistic that I felt as if I was reading an adventure story in the "Teen" section. Bleh.
i felt the exact same way about that book...
It seemed too short and really too...simple. You said it.

Brave New World is my favorite book of that genre, though i love 1984 by george orwell and Anthem by ayn rand.

joseph conrad...

hehe, i read a conrad novel in grade 12... "the secret agent". i hated the book the first time i attempted to read it... i got halfway through it and almost gave up... then i started reading something else, i forget what it was... i think it was a salinjer novel (not catcher in the rye), and i hated it more than the conrad novel... so i went back to the conrad novel from the beginning and it was an excellent read... i think i was just thrown off by his writing style at first... he tends to trail, or ramble on about some things into too much detail, sometimes it seems like he's just trying to fill pages, but i saw his style a little different the second time i read the book... i guess i just got used to it...

lmao, i forgot to return that book to the school library... i'm looking at it right now... oh well... they'll never see it again...
