Where Is The Country "White?"
Am I the only person who is bothered by the media referring to the "white" community? I don't personally identify with any one specific racial group. However I do understand that there are east Indian, Chinese and many other ethnic communities. Obviously though this is because they are from those countries. So my point here is that there is no country called white, for instance I'm Norwegian and happen to be Caucasian.
""They feel quite correctly that there's a double standard," said Matt James. "That when white people commit crimes the white community is never tarred with that brush, is never asked to atone for the wrongdoing."" http://www.canada.com/vancouver/news...4-51D3BB9831F3 |

I agree. There is a major double standard here.
I am caucasian, but am a first generation Canadian as neither of my parents were born in Canada. My mother is born in Switzerland, my father in America. Thus, I am a member of the Americo-Swiss minority in Vancouver. Yet, no one would ever bother to ask me "where I am from," or what my ethnic heritage/lineage is. I'm "caucasian" and apparently that's all that really matters. This is in contrast to so called "visible minorities" who are asked "where are you from" bullshit questions all the time. Anyone on this board tired of being asked "where you're from"? |
