Actually, one of the dopest locations I've come across for a party (doubt that it would be feasible, so I'm just blue-skying here) is the Second Terminal @ the airport. For those of you not sure what I'm talking about, its where a lot of the smaller, local to BC flights arrive / depart from.

Even though every venue you have spoken of thus far does indeed hold events. Most of them will not allow or are not allowed to hold all night events. Most must be closed and venue clear by 2:00am.

Hmmm, some of them yeah, but I am sure with some venues which are located in an area of the city that do not pose any major concerns, from surrounding residences, that a licence could be issued to the event holder which would stipulate no bass SPL nor overall sound volume will exceed 90dB, or something of that nature. Weather how practical it would be obtaining such a licence, or how plausible it is, is beyond me, just a thought. Perhaps having an event on a samll island or something of that effect, could be addressed. Have a boat pre party, on the way to the island, then a larger party at the main location itself. I know it has been done before, maybe the thought should be resurected for serious consideration. :c-tard:

To my knowledge, there is no shortage of outdoor venues, albiet not in the city of Vancouver, large, legal parties can still exist in this city.

There's is a HUGE shortage of legal outdoor venues. I can think of Popkum and thats it

It's a great venue but it's double the budget of the plaza of nations....$250 000......that could be huge losses and wipe out promoters in a single show

This would be a dream come true if it were legal to go all night. Since it's in a residential neighborhood, the city will not issue an all night dance permit

5.)Thunderbird Stadium (Maybe not as practical as SwanGaurd, but would be great for a very high end production)

Will only allow parties till Midnight
Summerloves budget was $400 000ish
I don't think any promoter will ever risk that again
it suffered a huge loss

That place near riverside where cloud9 was a long time ago called the palace would be a good spot to use again.
Surrey public market would be good for a massive with a little renovation but it's in surrey so that would never happen.

Hey, how about some reasonably priced venues? Besides the Croatian all these venues are extremely expensive. If there was some lower priced venues then promoters wouldn't have to worry so much about going bankrupt and would be able to diversify the line up.

or Riverview Hospital. The Liberals have closed down nearly half of it and it is constantly being rented to film companies. There is adaquate washrooms and fire exits. multiple levels and huge basements. These buildings are so old most of them would be nearly sound proof. Plus there is a ton of parking there and besides the hospital residents there is no other neighbors, just the Louheed Highway.

I have no idea about where these things might be at, but I can toltally picture it: Big huge halls, high ceilings, lotsa brick walls and glass plus lots of space for parking and nobody around the area......... :soak: what a dream...

GOLDEN!!!.....I've been in there when they were filiming butterfly effect and it would be a perfect place for a party of some form.
now just convincing the government that its really a "film" we are shooting about ravers then we're set..:hehe:

Hey, thats a great idea, it would prolly have to be in richmond, Burnaby, or Surrey or something. I threw a 400-600 person party at one on SW Marine Dr in vancouver, police showed up at around 12 or so, they didn't shut it down, just got on the microphone during one of my sets and stated to "keep it all inside," mind you we didn't have ANY security, so a warehouse still could render as a potentially great idea.

The only possible problem I see with using a big warehouse space for 'legal' massive-sized party is the number of fire exits.
We looked into a huge building for a party last year that could have easily held 1000+ people, but because of the limited number of exits, the legal capacity was only 150 people.
