Granville Island

So I've been hanging out with this girl from one of my classes over the past few weeks and we've started to hit it off really well. We're going out tonight, and the plan is Granville Island, but I'm wondering if it would be pointless to go there at night. are there any decent restaurants there, or should we rethink our plans? Any other suggestions in that general area? If they can invlove riding one of those little boat taxis that would be extra sweet.

Cheers!

there are a bunch of nice, yet not overly expensive restaurants/lounges on the island. The Cat's Meow comes to mind for a restaurant as does the Art's Club theatre for a lounge/bar. But there are many others as well.

ps. the taxi does not operate at night

you must mean on Sunday... and although it was a bit of an adventure (at 1am Sunday night i finally made it back to my car), i was successful in my mission of getting to my bed. I didn't have enough $$ for the taxi though so he dropped my sketchy ass like 5 blocks from my car in the fuckin freezing cold... and of course my car was overheating the entire way home - good times indeed.

best time to hit granville island is mid afternoon, buy yourself some nice bread, some cheese, some olives or whatever else is your fancy, pick up a cheap but still tastey bottle of wine and go sit somewhere, chat it up and enjoy your meal.

and its pretty cheap for a date downtown.

Damn dude. Sorry about that!

Meghan: I definitely want to do that too. She has physio until 5 though so it's gotta be an evening thing.

Thank you for the book! I can see it being worth a fair chunk o' change someday.

As has been said, The Cat's Meow is a good place...
Down on the island there's also The Keg, a Thai food place that's alright, The Sandbar, Backstage Lounge, and Bridges.

Yes please!! We STILL need to talk about that one. Soon soon.

Went to the cat's meow. Had a sketchy waitress who spoke really fast and didn't make a lot of eye contact. Food was decent, heard St Germaine's Tourist twice over and the place was crazy empty. We talked non stop and then went for coffee for like 3 hours to chat some more. So cool! But yeah dunno about the restaurant. It's probably a lot better on weekends.

Yeah we figured that was the case. People were still friendly and all, but even when I called ahead the chick sounded bored as hell.

No nookie yet. I wanna go about this one properly. 5 hours of great conversation worked for me.

i love granville island. downtown but without the bustle of downtown.

and for a food court, it's crazy good in the public market. on top of the various fine establishments there.

note: i want an apartment there so damn bad.
