looking for good tattoo artists..
Not tattoo parlours, but specific people you or a friend, has had work done by and would suggest to someone else. Someone who is creative, passionate and will take the time to sit down with me, show me their shit (aka sell/prove themselves), and collaborate with me on the finishing touches of my design.
Good prices would also be a plus. |

steve at sacred heart in kits.
he worked with my design, plus whil ehe was tattooing me gave me massive amounts of tips on painting (as he himself is a painter) showed me a couple of good magazines, and was totally socailable and passionate. i sent my girlfriend to him, and she felt the same way, totally a good guy. prices... not so good, bottom charge is $60. but you pay for the talent. i found the front desk lady to be a little bitchy, but she probably puts up with alot. steve is definately the guy im going back to for my next tattoo and i totally recommend him. |

^well I think robert wins the draw!! ick.
E_boy, that actually what I was going to ask about. I guess it's a good idea chosing an artist who's personal style or prefference is similar to your type of design. I don't have a picture of the base of my design on this computer, I'll post it later. But basically its alot of black stars, however I'm trying to incorporate a "technique" I like behind it. Almost a swooshy (yes swooshy) swirls with a negative of some of the stars (just the shape of the star missing without any outline). That way it will also add a little colour to the black design, which is something I couldn't do in a way I enjoyed by adding colour to the stars. I also have a smaller tattoo above where I plan on getting it, so it can't overpower this one too much. It's quite a rockabilly tattoo so I'm liking the look of this lady luck place. I really want it to be done by someone who will enjoy and respect the design. Crystal, does he have a website or online portolfio I can check out? I think I've only really seen one of yours. |

with something like the yellow and reddish part minus star incoporated in behind it.
I wanted to use a bunch of smaller stars an/or dots for a faery dust effect but I really want some color in this tattoo and the two of them together might be way too busy. Last edited by MistressSpankME; Feb 22, 04 at 11:52 AM. |

Excuse my multiple posts.
I just had to put this one in because it's a KICKASS backpiece. Man I love these things, I keep belittling the idea of me becoming a tattoo artist but the idea keeps coming back. arg. While we are on the subject, anyone know (generally) how much a decent to good tattoo artist can make? |

Check out this one jap girl at Sacred Heart Tattoo @ Nelson location. But i guess it depends what style of tattoo you're into. No doubt her oriental artwork is dope! Check out http://www.sacredhearttattoo.ca and click on Shoko. I'm planning on letting her cover up one of my tattoo. She's has to be good, since I have to wait for 2 months before getting a consultation appt with her, gonna be hell waiting for my real tattoo appt.

Oh and yah, the front desk lady is a bit of a bitch. :) But overall best place for me. Nice clean and totally professional, they charge a bit more but it is totally worth it. Last edited by Havok79; Feb 22, 04 at 04:32 PM. |

Jenna if you're serious about getting a really well done tatty by a good artist the last thing you should really be concerned with is price. You get what you pay for if you ask me.
With that in mind I'd suggest you check out Brian in Abbotsford. He's one of the best in the world and has travelled extensively doing his work as well as been featured in many a tatto magazine. A good buddy of mine apprenticed under him and I have work done by him myself. His prices aren't half bad but as I said that really should be the last thing on your mind when it really comes down to a quality piece of artwork on your body. Just to let you know brian also does free re-coloring for all his work. Basically that means you can go in and get it touched up in another 10 yrs when the color starts to fade. http://www.brianstattoo.com/ |

overall most good places will have a price of $120-$130 an hour. The main difference is some places will often give you deals and some places wont really give you deals and will usually just charge you buy hour. When i got ym first tattoo at Next Aaron quaoted me 200 to 200something for 2 hours of work but when it was all said and done he charged me $80.
