aaaaaaw thanks *blush*
That part was just to sweeten the deals as I have no financial means to repay anyone who works with me. And I really think we should talk :) I'm big on the b&w too. that and you're young, I trust alot of the photographers I work with but sometimes it's a little unnerving working with someone who could be my grandfather or that pedophile staring at me on the bus. |

I just had a brilliant idea.. I've been wanting to do some "gritty" b&w shots downtown with all the fabulous old buildings they have down there. Which would mean "purdy" girl mixed with your love of arhcitectural photography. Does that sound like something you'd like to do? |

don't worry. i'm pretty sure i'm neither your grandfather nor a pedofile.
we should do an erotic set with you AND mannequins! it'd be so sassy and fun. you could re-enact famous romantic scenes with them.. and blood. alot of fake blood. |

hey, neato. i'm from port alberni originally and spent a lot of time out at the lake. i'm guessing that's a shot from the western side of that peninsula thing facing taylor arm, right?
the hills in the background were what made me think it was sproat. |

Wow! I've always been fascinated by the beauty of glass and concrete and Vancouver has some really nice architecture.
I've mostly been fooling around with my digi cam around the city for a while so mine are no where near as pro the sites listed. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you use a digital as well or do you find manuals create a more professional look? |
|
|||
i find that digitals are far superior for this kind of photography because the pictures look so much cleaner.. like they should. sadly, i only have a canon powershot g1 and a cybershot u. if i had a sigma sd9 or something, i would definately use it. i love manual settings.

I just splurged on a cannon s50 during the futureshop boxing rush (they were all out of the s400!!) but this has so many manual and custom settings I think it'll take years for me to figure out what they mean. I feel bad because I'm fairly limited to the fast motion setting because I'm so shaky.
I just figured out how to take really neat low light shots but it's hard. My kingdom for a steady hand (or maybe just a tripod) |

there's a huge arguement right now between film based cameras and digital cameras. the higher end digital cameras are so good now that you can barely tell the difference between it and a film based print. (and by higher end digital cameras, i mean the digital SLRs that cost around 4 to 5 grand). personally, i love film based cameras because I love getting my hands dirty...half the art of photography comes with the film; knowing whether to push your film or pull your film, manipulating your negatives in the darkroom, etc etc. if given a choice, i'd rather buy a new medium format film based camera over an SLR digital camera. reason being, if i had my film based medium format, i could buy a digital back for it somewhere down the line if, for some odd reason, i started liking digital over film based. some people might have the arguement that digital stuff is instant. you can see your shot right away. and to that i say: uhhh yeah...well you can do the same thing with a film based camera. it's called a polaroid back. you just attach it to your camera, take a shot...rip out the paper and there you go...an instant working shot so you can see what lighting is working and what isn't...and where elements are placed in your frame...etc etc. -s. |

^^^^ ouch.
a good photographer has to have a great sense of composition, lighting, creativity and technical skill. Photography more or less incorporates concepts from every other medium in art. To say anyone can take a good photgraph is REALLY insulting. -s. |

Then again, there are such things as people with cameras as opposed to photographers. They may have the technical skills, or even know how to light up the subject well.. but being able to create actual art with your camera, I think, raises you above the rest. |
