i'm mostly into architectual photography. i do some nature stuff because, whenever i'm at my cottage, i have nothing to do but take pictures.
i'm actually working on a surrealism set right now which includes some girls. it'll be interesting to see how i do with people pictures. thanks btw. i'll let your comments be my first impression of this community and not mr "skillz". |

and the little mr "skillz" comment. i'm pretty confident in saying that i do have skill. a lot of skill. i go to university for photography and design so yes...i do have skill. no need to get snippy...because if you won't play nice...i won't. -s. sammy, i misunderstood. and i wasnt implying that you didnt have skillz. i just thought your name was kind of cute.
from now on, i plan to play nice. also, these aren't prints. i just process the film and scan it. only having taken one year of basic photgraphy at school, i have no idea what a tonal range is. Last edited by ryantron; Feb 23, 04 at 05:04 AM. |

going to school is not any indication of particular excellence - george bush has a degree from Harvard, afterall. |

well black and white film has a tonal region of 7 stops. tonal values or tones are just colours that range from pure white to pure black. typically, a "good" print has a full tonal range...so when you do start printing your own work, try to get full white and full black in your prints first. once you're there you can use magenta filters to try and get the full tones between black and white. judging from your neg scans, you're almost there though...i'd probably just try to get pure black. another thing to maybe think about is pulling your film (so if you're using 400 try setting your camera to 200). normally you get better tones when you do that.
and what surreal photos are you doing? my biggest passion is surreal fashion photography. -s. |

awesome. thanks.
i love surrealism. kevin and i were thinking about manniquens.. mannequins?.. acting out bizarre scenes. off the top of my head.. one mannequin burying another one with a vacuum. most of the ideas are a little deeper than that.. but not much. i want my own style, of course. but adult., has taken some very nice pictures for album covers and whatnot. adultperiod.com ALSO, noone looks like an ass. stop this madness. |

These are all great..they kind of remind me of some of the stock photos i've seen on da though, you should check them out. I'm not a huge fan of architectural photography or whatever you call it, (I like portraits/people)but it's definately nice to see the world from a different perspective.
I particularly like the lil birdie on the wire. |

I agree with Yoko. Unfortunately at your age I was too sick and depressed to do anything with my talents/passion. So good start, and good luck.
And if You ever need a model, or wouldn't mind even talking about working with one (thats me in the pic). I need pictures taken of me by someone with creativity, I don't do you're average modelling and I'm not just a subject.. I have tones of ideas too. And I plan on promoting my ass off in the near future so the photographers I work with will be along for the ride (a little free advertising never hurts :D ) Speaking of that, we sure as hell better shoot something this summer Mr. Sammy!! |

btw that mannequin idea sounds rad. I'm a huge fan of them, i don't photograph them (yet) but I use alot of "human replicant" parts, especially heads and dolls, barbies, in my mixed media art. They deffinately make for some creepy, thought invoking work.
