The Jim Defense is based upon the idea that everyone knows someone named Jim. I know a lot of Jims, my pops is named Jim.

"Hey, you look familiar, do you know Jim?" and take it from there.

Never used the Jim Defense, but I've had to use this one before:

Ladies and Gentlemen of this deposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wooky from the planet Kishic, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it. That does not make sense.

Why would a Wooky, an eight-foot-tall Wooky, want to live on Endor with a bunch of two-foot-tall Ewoks. That does not make sense. But more important, you have to ask yourself what does this have to do with this case.

Nothing. Ladies and Gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case.

It does not make sense. Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and Gentlemen I'm am not making any sense. And no, you're not stupid for not knowing it. It's more commonly known as the "Do I know you" defense, which is a lot more self-explanatory. It's also a common technique when picking up women. So much so that nowadays it's considered a cheesy line and should be avoided at all costs.

This has nothing to do with southpark and their lawyer, it has more to do with getting pulled over and busting out the Jim defence, striking up a conversation, coming across as a friend of Jim or your dad knows Jim or something along those lines. You are perceived as a good guy, a friend of a friend that maybe you partied with or your dad knows or some shit.
