Any writers here?

Hey, I'm going into the creative writing program here at UBC, but I haven't found anyone at this school who wants to be in any sort of writer's group or even just exchange writing and critique. I'm going crazy just having myself being my only editor.

Is there anyone on here who would be interested in anything like this?

i haven't even written in a while, but i've got a few ideas for some short stories. if i ever get the motivation to write them out, perhaps ill post them.

you know that that takes alot of work right? i mean first you'd have to pull them out of your head and then post them.

what sort of writing are you looking for? mainly just short stories and stuff? i perform spoken word and would definitely welcome the opportunity for a change in environment. also, i have to get shit going for my portfolio too, cuz i'm doing the journalism program at kwantlen next year to transfer to ryerson (hopefully), and haven't written anything journalistic in years. i'm doing a creative writing workshop at ubc right now with laisha rosneau, and it's pretty good, however there hasn't been too much focus on excercises to get the flow going, but definitely lots of feedback, and exposure to other people's writing styles. i only come on here every couple months, so if you think this sounds like something that would would be cool to incorporate into a writing group then send me an email.

I've done a tonne of writing over the years. I still do now, not quite as often, though. It's different when you work full-time. I was also accepted to the journalism prgrm @ Carleton in '92. Never went, though. Haven't been to school since '92. Keep me posted.

Crookedking - Yeah, I would just post my writing, but it just makes me uneasy knowing that once I post my writing on the internet it becomes free range for anybody to do anything to. I'd rather keep it under my own control.

i am a writter, although my base is more along the thought lines of abstract poetry and midabolded art.

but i am an excellent editor and proof reader.

I am in full agreement about not putting work on the net. It ain't yours anymore, then. It'll be mine and whoever else wants it, too. I now manage a restaurant. I have become a professional in the hospitality biz. Writing is just a hobbie. The hospit. biz ain't so bad. I haven't worried about finding work in almost 8 years. And, now w/ my experience, jobs come at me.

I write poetry and rhymes so I probably wouldn't be of much help.

keep on doing it never stop
negitive positive minds you write down
if you smile or if you frown
it will relexes you to a point
kind of in a way if you smoke a joint
for writing down thing from your heart never lies
thoughts and emotions in your head will never die
so get a pen and anything to write on
don't stop writing until you excpress you self
and anyways writing writing is fun.
