that is, if you don't count the time that msn changed the protocol, and you had to compile gaim with mozilla's ssl libs, which on certain releases of slackware aren't really useful for such things as... compiling gaim.
i went a week looking for an answer online, trying to apply the hacks, and failing in each attempt. i ended up just getting a tgz that some guy compiled on his own, and used that. for all i know it contained a trojan, but i was to the point where i didn't care.
meanwhile, all my friends in *dows land got a reminder to tell them to download the new version, and they were up in no time, with only a few brain cells required to double click the install file.
so, i guess my point is that yeah, my box would have a large uptime. but it gets cut short every once in a while when i have to reboot to windows.
