YaY For Me!!
For those of you who remember me talking about something called the Baristas Program... I got a call from the program Coordinator and my interview is on Wednesday April.14th @ 11:00am.
I am very excited about it... I want in it so badly. I swear I am going to be so upset and pissed off if I don't get in. I have been waiting for this to start up since January. The 10 chosen people will be contacted in the same week and will start classes on thr 19th of April. Wish me luck... I so need it. This will be my first intervew ever! Rene :) |

It's 7 weeks of training in life skills. Like self esteem, confedence, budgeting, and to learn all the drinks. We get paid 8.00 an hour to learn, then you go to any Starbucks and work there for 15 weeks to get the experience and a good reference. (Which I don't have at all).
The other 20 students who have already finished this program have either become supervisors or assistant managers of several Starbucks in Surrey. I think that's pretty good. It maynot be much to you... but for somebody like me this program is exactly what I need to get myself going. :D I'm very excited.... so just wish me luck and hope I get it! Sher... I lost your number :( I got no phone and no computer right now.... I am gunna be out of the loop for like a month. In may I can probably go get a phone and internet access... my new roommate has a computer she said I can have!!!! |

i'd say that's a great opportunity. learning how to make coffee is just the tip of the iceberg for what you'll get out of the program... you'll get experience and skills that will easily get you a job at any coffeeshop. you probably won't have to worry about doing any serious job-hunting for a long time. you'll probably have an easier time advancing through a company like starbucks, and once you get some management experience in you, you can pretty much use that in any retail/food service environment. it's definately a great way to spice up a resume.
congrats! |
