You can probably ask the people at the tanning salon about it. I just started going tanning recently and they asked me all these questions before I went in. I have really fair skin too but I haven't had a problem with burning. Just don't use the strongest bed they have.

oh shitty.....
maybe try going to tan salon for a little at a time then start going more. your skin will start getting used to the Sun (or UV rays if you fake-bake) Thats what i did last summer and now i have been to the beach twice in the past two weeks and really nice and brown. Driving a convertable helps too, but my forehead is a little dark! :) |

Before hitting the beds... I recomend getting a tan inhanser, it evens out the tan and you get the most out of the bed. they can be pricy... try to find one on sale. I just use a base tan one. it was around $35 on sale. Some can go up to $90!

i use the swanky girl collection lotion..smells so freakin good, but yes its on the pricey line, BUT IT WORKSSS. i like how it doesn't make me blotchy or anything and it reduces teh minutes i have to go in the bed. definately use a lotion when tanning.. helps a lot.
like kraig and others said.. just ask the workers at a tanning salon, they know their info real well. still so curious about the mystic tan.. looked great on ms.kimmie! |

I tan once in awhile, usually when there's a special occasion coming up.
If you do choose to go to fake and bake, i'd recommend fabutan or "a darker shade" tanning studios. Sundeck near metrotown I find really dirty, I don't think they clean their beds properly. There's usually 4 types of beds, bronze is usually the weakest, and then they gradually intensify. Silver, Gold and Platinum usually have face lamps too so you can choose to keep that on or off. -Wait 24 hours in between tans, I used to brush off that rule and tan daily and I burnt really badly, you also develop a heat rash if you do that and it's painful. -Put sunscreen over tattoos.. it'll preserve the color -Moisturize!! And if you choose to use a tan intensifying lotion make sure you try a sample first, some will make you turn orange. I'm currently using a chocolate-raspberry tingle lotion that stimulates the skin under the tanning lamps and makes you super red when you come out, but then the red fades and it leaves you really tanned. It also kind of gives you a burning/tingling sensation but it's tolerable. If you choose to use a tanning lotion, I'd recommend the Coppertone Endless Summer lotion, the color is just right and it doesn't streak. Exfoliate before hand, and then rub the lotion between the palm of your hands and apply in upward strokes, try and make it as even as possible, wash your hands (otherwise your palms will turn orange) and let it dry for approximetely 10 minutes. Hope that helps :) |

*wonders if she is the only one that doesn't like the really tanned look* i guess it's moreso that i don't like it on myself. some people look a LOT better when they're tanned, but a lot of people who look terrible tanned just do it cause it's something to do. either way, never do tanning beds on a regular basis...or even on a semi-regular basis. it just fxcks up your skin, and when you're older, it gets grossly wrinkled and orangy. what's the point of that? and unless it's natural, the self-tanner lotion isn't good for your skin either...it's chemical dye!

tanning
Ur actually suppose to wait every 48 hours between tanning sessions. If u tan to much nothing will happen becuase it dosn't allow the tan to set. If u use a stand up tan.. which is were u stand in this box like thing with uv lights all around u.. it says how many many minutes to start with and how u should only go every 48 hours. Also it tells you how many minutes to increase to week by week.
