Hitchhiking/Hitchhikers

Just curious as to if you are driving, do you pick up hitch hikers? I do, quite a bit. I have a few rules though, you need a backpack, cuz if you don't have one, something is up. I don't pick up sketchy looking fuckers, either. I used to hitch a lot when I was a kid in whislter, to and from Pemby, Squamish and Van, as well as around town. Had a few dodgy rides, picked up some shady charachters, but all in all a good time...

the first and only time my mum hitchhiked, the guy didn't stop where he said he was going to drop her off, and he refused to pull over. so she rolled down the window and said she was going to jump out. then he let her go. scary.
no hitchhiking for me.
i think i would be okay with picking up someone, as long as i had a guy friend with me in the car. but like you said, no sketchy looking fuckers.

Just make sure that if you do hitchhike, you've got yourself a nice 12inch blade ;)
and if you pick up, make sure you have a heavy maglight or something close to it, within reach.
I've picked up Hh, a few times, I never minded....Most times it was younger girls who were looking to escape their small towns in alberta, hahaha.

I grew up on Pender Island so Im soo used to hitchhiking and picking people up. But then its a small community and the only way off the island is by ferry. Ive hitch hiked a few times this year - back and forth from college and such. I havent had any problems but I know Im lucky, I just hate public transit so much.

i hitchhiked once and everything went fine, the people that picked me up were really nice and all but i probably will never do it again. i'm afraid to pick anyone up just because it's too risky, there are a lot of sketchy people out there and you just never know what might happen.

Walking denotes that you have somewhere to go.

i've picked up hitch hikers and hitched myself travelling from vancouver to kelowna.. I enjoy it for the conversation though it's gotten me in some very silly predicaments. once when i was very young i was picked up by a couple young looking women and i began rattling on about how much i loved raving and that sort of crap. they were practically in stitches as i told them all about it and invited them to come along.. "you don't know how old we are do you?" they asked... "nooo.. ?" i replied.. "Let's put it this way.. we're high school teachers." eep.

My friend and I picked up a couple Hitch Hikers when we were driving to Campbell River. Picked them up outside of Comox... lol They were going to Port Hardy... after we laughed at their destination we let them out by the Highway as we were going to the Airport.

I would totally pick up a hitch hiker, as long as he/she wasn't sketched out or looking like they weren't travelling..back packs are good!!

B-Funk is on a distinguished road
i have never picked one up before.

but after Apex 2002 my friend lost the keys to his car and everyone found a way home except me and one buddy so we were walking towards the freeway i geuss the plan was to get to chilliwack and try to call someone to pick us up. of course the cell was dead too. but a car(comming from the party) with 2 guys and a girl pulled over and they drove us back to surrey. it was so funny though... like i knew these guys my whole life. on the way home the brakes stopped working and we had to pull over at a gas station by castle fun park in abbotsford and we went through a stop sign almost got smoked by a dump truck and when we checked under the hood the brake master cylinder cap had popped right off and that why we lost the brakes. trippy ass ride but something i will never forget. props to Tristan and his friends for thier kindness. so all in all, i geuss we were kinda like hitch hikers that day.

Yeah, guys going to/from whistler are a pretty safe bet, IMO. Same with the interior, most people are on the same program. I hitched to Saskatoon, getting to Calgary was easy, but the prairies was tough going.
