Why dumb americans???

i would like someone to explain why every problem is blamed on dumb americans... if you are all so smart someone tell me why you cant come up with a better answer then... its american... or americans are dumb... or americans have a bad school system... why dont you come up with a better excuse...

Or we could all be good canadians and be nice to everyone... like canadians are known for...

I remembered an episode from this hour has 22 minutes...

they got george bush to believe that our prime minister was named jean poutine and got al gore to believe that our capital city is toronto.

along with other things, they got americans to believe that saskatchewan has national seal hunts, we have a national igloo and beavers balls were going to be our national food.

ha. it was so funny.

lol i remember that episode... and anothe episode where they were convincing americans that toronto was a village... wel.. wasnt even really convincing.. was just.. dunno.. they 22 minutes guy said it and they blantantly accepted the fact lol. great show

and gorgous.. if this is spurred on by my post in the swan thread. Essentially this is it... Many americans are extremely ignorant. Many americans are ovely proud of themselves when they have no right to be. Their current president is an absolute dipshit. I could write pages about this... but I won't... It essentially boils to down to ignorance.

Our penpals in grade 6 used to ask the best questions like, do you have phones in canada? do you live in houses? do you have board games? They were so great for a laugh.

well i for one am sick and tired of hearing people talk shit about americans. i know a lot of wonderful people who just happen to be american and they are nothing like any of the "typical american stereotypes". why should someone be judged or treated differently just because of the country they were born in?

jeeze, for living in a nation so openly accepting and tolerant of other cultures, alot of canadians sure are racist.

also.. you could go on any street in vancouver and get similar results when asking people about the states or any other country for that matter. all you need to do is tape enough people and save all the "good" clips. (not that it's not funny, but it's hardly a representation of the general population)

I think you should be less worried about how the Americans are percieved and be more concerned with what the Americans are doing.

Americans get criticized by Canadians for good reason. Canadians know what their doing, believe me. We’re not racists (generally speaking), but Americans are (generally speaking). Canadians are known for their harsh politically correct thinking, and when you see Americans do some of the things they do you can help but ask why. I do think that part of the reason we are so harsh on the American’s is because they just don’t care. Americans are so ignorant of other countries and cultures, they know we don’t like them, and you know what? They don’t even give a shit. So why should we?

I fully understand you all feel there is good reason to say rude things about americans... but maybe you should all think about the things you say befor you say them.... just like the guy with the thing about people from quebec... thats not nice either.... granted they they think they are better then the rest of canadians that doesnt mean i should go around trash tlaking them...

I'm not an American fan at all. However, I know some great Americans. Sure, they've been living up here forever but it proves that the countrey comes out w/ some great people. Yes, a great # of Americans are ignorant, but Canadians shouldn't kid themselves. There are plenty of stupid, ignorant and racists Canadians too.

first off, 'American' is not a race, so bashing americans isn't 'racist'

and i think it's understood by most that when Canadians or other nationalities bash Americans for being ignorant, we're not meaning every single individual American is ignorant. But on a whole, it's not hard to see that the USA is nation so wrapped up in it's own glory that it's citizens are, by & large, horribly uneducated about any culture other than their own. Especially considering the wealth of the country, and that the resources are there for them to learn about the whole world. Of course there are plenty of intelligent Americans, but they aren't the voice that represents America to the rest of the world. Instead we get a series of assholes (Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, W) who the American public have supposedly elected as their spokespeople, so it's not hard to draw the conclusion that they're backed up by an entire nation of assholes. Their foreign policy, their crime rate and their immense military budget don't do anything to disprove that conclusion, either. But i have loads of respect for any educated, peace loving American who sticks it out in their country and hopes to make a difference.

OH OH!

on "talking to americans" with rick mercer (on "this hour has 22 minutes), he also went around asking americans how they felt about canada having army boats or something and if it made sense to have them because Canada is not touching any oceans (haha!). all these americans were like "no, that doesn't make sense at all!" and one american goes "well, what does canada have to fight for?? the americans can do all the fighting for them!"

haha! that show was SOOOO funny!
