Drinking and Driving

My friend Mike just recently died in a car crash, his friends and him were drinking and after drinking they decided to jump in the car and go for a ride, they were going at a high speed limit , and while driving the driver thought it would be fun to pull on the emergency break and try and make a sharp turn, well it didnt work as well as they thought it would....and so happened they hit a tree near by because of their speed limit they were going...

My question to you guys is..
DO u think its okay to drink and drive...or do you just not care..? Do u think twice about steping into a car with someone who has drank way past their limit? What are your comments?

R.I.P Mike- forever in our hearts, you will be missed by many

Drinking and driving is out and out dumb, but what I really don't get is people who drink and drive.. and then speed?! The one or two times I've been drunk behind the wheel, I've made a point of going SLOWER... common sense?... You know you're not in a safe position, why is that a good time to crank up the km/h?

I think a lot of it is that people don't realize wtf they're driving and how fast they're going.. and the damage that can be done. Sounds like someone else found out the hard way :(

Driving and any kind of stimulants donut mix. If you otherwise, hopefully the results will only affect you and no one else.

your friends are a bunch of morons. luckily no one else was hurt.

i think there should be stricter penalties against people that are caught DUI.
right now you get 3 chances before your license is taken away for life. i don't see why there's a need for 3 strikes.

a friend of mine has been caught twice. each time shes gotten her license taken away for a couple months, which didn't stop her from driving...without her license or under the influence.
...that's fucking retarded. but i guess i blame her parents more then anything.

A cousin of mine died DUI on Valentines Day this year... sad part was that he had prior DUIs as well. I myself am ashamed of the fact that I have driven home drunk ONCE. Never again, I count myself lucky that I wasn't caught or do something dumbass. I don't ride with anyone that's hammered... I'll suffer and take Transit. :)

Well long story short, Ive made alot of major mistakes in my life, largest of which was getting into a bad state of affairs at a party after drinking a solid 26 of Smirnoff, hitting up a few lines a couple tabs, and deciding that driving myself to another party would be great. Now, I was going on a bit of poorly paved road out in the country (I lived in Kamloops at the time) and I was going most likely over 100 klicks on this road. A bit too late there was a sharp corner with an embankment on the side, which I tried to avoid by cranking the wheel over, which sent to teh car spinning around, eventually crashing into the shoulder...which started my flipping down the bank.

I only know this from the police report, it also said the vehicle appeared to ahve flipped between 6 and 9 times.

I ended up in the hospital for over a week with rather nasty head and back injuries, but Ill be fucked, I lived. I didnt have a seatbelt on...miracle... Ill never know how I did, the cops and paraqmedics sure as fuck didnt. I should have been killed, its kinda that simple. I then went in physical therapy for a month, not to mention rehab for a little bit of a problem I had with booze and drugs.

Lesson is kiddies, we're not invincible, we do make mistakes, and we just have to thank whatever power you hold highest that some of us, for whatever fucked up reasons are allowed a second chance. We have to learn mostly from Those of us who arent given that chance, and hope to christ that we dont have to learn about the pain, heart ache, anger, confusion and disgust that comes with drunken or intoxicated driving.

I was stupid, Im paying for it now, money wise, health wise, family wise, friends wise. Tipsy's friends paid an ultimate price. Take heed, dont just sit and read and ponder on it then go out and do it, let it sink in, because your life is not worth fucking up.

I've driven with people drunk or on various drugs many times and have had some close calls such as the driver falling asleep at the wheel. I think i'm gonna stop putting myslef into those situations before my luck runs out and i get in a bad accident.

you know what
that makes you a moron too :)

I think nearly all of us are guilty of getting behind the wheel or being with someone who is behind the wheel that has had too many

We all give speeches - we think we know our limits
but many of us would blow over the limit after 2 or 3 drinks

i find it hilarious, the whole 'i'm a cautious drunk driver thing' so you are going slow - so what...your reaction times are greatly impacted, even if you hit another car while driving 50 you're gonna do damage

THEY NEED TO RUN SKYTRAIN LATER

Drinking and driving penalties should include you losing your liscance with no second chance to get it back. The driver is puting him/herself in danger as well as the lifes of sober drivers around them.
I will continue to shake my head when I head about car crashes (they are not accidents because they could easily be avoided) untill I see liscances being revolked but into place.

I feel that drinking and driving jsut isnt worth it.. I mean look at what you can do to sooo many people out there if you decided to drive while drunk... not only do you hurt others but would you really want all that guilt on your conscience after killing inocent people?
in the end if you dont know if your ok enough to drive home... DONT
I dont want to see any of my friends killed because you werent sure

In Oregon if you get caught drinking and driving they just take your car away on the spot. We need a law like that. But we also need better transit, the prices go, so does ridership, but service goes down? C'mon.

i've almost been killed by a drunk driver.
my mother was almost killed by a drunk driver.
my father used to drive drunk and almost killed me.
People just dont realise it could happen to them until it does.
Dont drink and drive, face it. Use common sense. If you cant get home because your too fucking drunk, call someone - nobody will complain that you are drunk and waking them up for a ride, I would rather you wake me up for a ride then getting a phonecall from the police saying your in jail for a DUI. Or worse.

Ludicrous.

i think it's ok to drive if you've had one, maybe two drinks as long as you've waited awhile before you get behind the wheel. i'd rather walk home or sit in a car for a couple hours before driving myself or driving with someone's who's drunk. some people just don't know there limits and those are the people that need to stop and realize that if you're gonna drive drunk, just remember that it's not just your own life you're endangering but it's also everyone else who's on the road.
