i was origionally going to vote liberal, then i got a phone call from the liberal candidate in my area, telling me why i should vote for him. he said its because he is a landed immigrent, and a visable minority, and he can understand what its like to be one.
i said, thank you, thats all i need to know bu bye. if thats the number one reason somebody wants me to vote for them, i am not doing it. so quite frankly, at the moment i have no idea who i am going to vote for. |

I want to vote NDP because one of the issues they will deal with is lowering tuition. But I'm torn because by the looks of it the Conservatives will obviously give the Liberals a run for their money. So should I vote NDP with a chance they might get in, or vote Conservative just so the Liberals won't get in?

I know people want a change in this country's government, but to vote Conservative just to keep the Liberals out...Think about what you may be doing!
Are you pro-choice? Do you support gay equality? Do you want Canada to remain independent in policy to the US? Do you want healthcare as a public service? Should the rich pay less tax and the middle and lower class pay more? What about an obvious hidden agenda? These are just a few things that should be considered before voting Conservative. There ARE other options than Liberal and PC. Please, please, PLEASE consider ALL your options! |

If I may butt in as an outsider to say Pullllleazzzzeee don't vote for fucking concervatives. Here in Oz we have been suffering under the ultra concervative government led by Johny jackboot Howard and we are little more than a satilite state of the US. They rule us by proxy, no kidding. Dubya is activly working to have this scumbag re-elected and you can bet he is funneling funds to the concervitives in canada.
I am moving to Canada next year cos of how much I hate what australia has become and is becoming under his ultra concervative regime. If you guys go that way I don't know where I wil go.......after all, it is all about me :) |

If i could vote i would vote ndp... but it almost seems like it would not be a vote... everyone seems to go liberal or comservative making a vote for the ndp worthless only taking away votes from the one of the two parties that will prob. win. I wouldnt want to vote liberal... or conservative but in order the save our country from the conservatives... if i could vote i would go liberal... since i dont really see the ndp winning.

the liberals have been doing a good job, and you agree with their platform yet you're not going to vote for them? you can't possibly agree with the conservative platform if you agree with the liberal way. what kinda change would you like to see in canada? making changes in a country isn't easy, there's so many steps and considerations and consequences to take into consideration...you can't fuck up. plus it takes time, they don't happen overnight. ehhh it's freaky how many people are voting for conservative. harper is a liar. |

Go Vote Today!
Cross-Post If the Liberals lose seats to the NDP and a minority government of any party is elected, the Liberals will still get to attempt to form a standing government. Even if the Conservatives win more seats than the Liberals, Paul Martin stays prime minister (and the Liberals the reigning party) if a Liberal/Other Party coalition government allows his party majority support. Splitting the vote is only going to matter in ridings where the votes for the NDP/Greens cause the Liberal to lose to the Conservative. The Conservatives may get more than anyone else, but their refusal to coalition with the Bloc or the NDP means that they're either lying, or expecting to win a majority. Voting Strategy If you don't want a Conservative government, vote Liberal or NDP. And if voting NDP is just going to split the left/center vote and make your riding Conservative, vote Liberal. Otherwise, vote however you want. Fun facts on election day: -The NDP has NEVER formed a federal government, so stop saying they ruined the federal economy. That was provincial. -Jack Layton, leader of the NDP, was mayor of Toronto for a whole ton of years (7?) and he ran a balanced budget for every single one of those years. To put that in perspective, that means he's got the best fiscal track record of all the leaders, managing an economy roughly the size of British Columbia's. -The economy has drastically improved under the Liberals, recovering from the PC Slump of Brian Mulroney. We're not on the financial slide down, so if you think the Liberals are destroying the economy, stop listening to spin and start looking at budget numbers. -The Green party isn't as left-wing as some of you may think. Read their platform if you're planning on voting for them on those grounds. -If you're voting Green for the Environment, read the Liberals and NDP environmental platform. You may find that despite them not having the word "Green" in their name, they cover the same issues to your liking. Last edited by Niko; Jun 29, 04 at 04:23 AM. |

I just want people to be informed and all thinky about politics. Because it pisses me off when half of the minority of young voters just go "Oh no, inheritance tax!" or "Egads! Healthcare!" or "I likes my guns!" and completely discards all other policies, parties, and platforms on the basis of a single issue.
It seems that most of the moronic voting tendencies are along these lines: Pro-Liberal: "At least they aren't the Conservatives." Pro-Conservative: "Well, they probably don't really MEAN that extreme social agenda they've been talking about." Anti-NDP: "They destroyed our economy!" or "Inheritance Tax?!? I likes my money!" Pro-Green: "I sure do like the environment!" *sigh* I'm good and split between whether I think young people should vote, or whether they should not be allowed to until they actually realize who is for what. |

One more thing:
www.liberal.ca www.ndp.ca www.greenparty.ca www.conservative.ca Go look and read. You still have 4.5 hours to know what the hell is going on before you vote. |

That earned some good karma for sure! I totally agree with that! Someone said, somewhere "Canada is the only country that votes people out instead of voting them in" |
