Who do you plan to vote for?

As most of us have heard by now (one would hope) we're in final stretch of an election campaign, and on june 28th we go to the polls. This is a pretty tight one, and a really good opportunity to make your vote count. So, assuming you're old enough, who do you plan to give your support to?

You see this is a tough one. I do not like the Liberals because of all the scandals and spending habits of them. I do not like Stephen Harper because of a couple fo reasons the privatization of helth care and his stance on the war on Iraq. I like the NDP leader but I do not like the NDP party. Fast ferries anyone! I will never support a seperatist goverment such as Bloc Quebecouis so the choices become very interesting. I have yet to have seen or heard any representative that really makes me want to vote for them. This maybe the first time in a long time we may have a minority goverment which in itself is really scary. No really leadership or focused drive in goverment. So I'm still not sure who I'm voting for or if I'm even going to both voting but I do feel it's a matter of picking the worst evil.

^ both of you:

If you are unsatisfied with the electoral choices being offered (eg, pissed off about being forced to chose the least worst evil) I suggest you browse through their webpage. Of course, yes, they are still a political party and a fallible group of human beings - but a lot of their ideas make a lot of sense. Spend a few mintues checking it out.

Voting green in this election is not a waste of your vote - the Greens will easily clear the '2% of the national vote' threshold necessary to take advantage of new election funding rules that mean for every vote they get, they will recieve $1.75 each year until the next election. They're polling about 6% right now - not exactly a fringe party any more.

all parties have a couple dirty secrets/scandles. i don't think the sponsorship scandle is that big of a deal, i'm still voting liberal.

my vote was between liberal and green. green cause a healthy canada is essential, but seriously, if they were to ever win they wouldn't know what to do. the liberals have been doing a decent job. they've upset a lot of people, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

i would strongly dislike to see the ndps in power. conservatives too, but i think we know better then to let them win.

I am scared to death of the Conservative party
Harper has said he would put things like gay marriage and abortion to popular vote, that has the potential to roll us back to coat hangers

that scares me the way George W Bush scares me
Jack Layton gets my vote

ITS NOT TO LATE TO INFORM YOURSELF PEOPLE
our age group is the biggest slackers int he voting department and we can make a difference, with a province like ours every vote counts

Better the evil you know than the evil you don't know. My vote will most likely end up with the liberals.

ya i was thinking of going conservative...until steven harper really started to open his mouth...fuck

he wants our country to also lose its second official language...and he is a strong advocate for sending more and more canadian troops to kawait (cant spell it) and wants to form a very strong allie (sp?) with the US

thats so not that kinda canada i want.

i dont like the liberals...they've done a decent job, but its time for them to have a minority government

and i've always voted for ndp and will do so again this election,

there is never ever going to be a government that everyone absolutely loves, and there are still some things that i dont like with the ndp...but the pros definitely outweight the cons for them

and as for bloc quebecois...unless your in quebec...and you're all for separtism why bother?

green party and weed party....good for them for always trying, i think they have some great points, and its nice to have them in cabinet but never as a majority government...we just need the libs, conserv, and ndp to pick up a few of their platforms

hahahahaha

anyone remember when the conservatives first changed their name and it was conservative reform alliance party...hahahah C.R.A.P....and now when you shorten it...it spells cons...man oh man...that should give you a good reason not to vote for them right there!

liberials...

i see all the scandals and waste as inevitable given the fundamentally flawed nature of our civil service, and any party in power will likely suffer the same results..i base my vote almost entirely on a given party's policies, and since i agree with like 90% of liberal policy thats where my vote will go.

the ndp and green parties platforms are nice, but they are no where near realistic, they simply wouldnt work, in this country atleast.

I'm really torn.

I've read the whole 65 page (or however much it is) NDP platform. I really like alot of what they want to do. I know they have the potential to be a force to be reckoned with in Parliament, especially if they're taking orders from Jack Layton. I know they are going to get a decent portion of the votes. I know if I vote NDP it won't be a throw-away vote, yet I know it won't hold as much sway as a Liberal vote.

I just have one concern in this election: that the Conservatives do NOT get into power. We're all in trouble then. We're going to become America North (worse than we already are) and REALLY lose the global respect that we have. Not to mention going back to the dark ages in womens and gay rights. I say FUCK THAT.

I have 5 days to figure it out...

The funniest thing about everything I have heard from everyone I have chatted to about this that they have no idea who they are voting for except they aren't voting for the conservatives. Some of their points are good but man the negatives really do out weigh posatives with their entire platform and more importantly on a personal note there just something about stephen harper I just don't trust.

That's because everyone you've chatted with lives in the city and have cosmopolitan values. Try heading out to delta, or prince george or lethtbridge for that matter, and you'll find it is a frighteningly different can of worms.

Green

i voted green. almost voted for the liberal party but decided against it (even tho i am hoping they come out on top of conservatives --yucky backwardish party). Even tho the green party doesnt really stand a chance right now and they probably wouldnt do the greatest job if they did win (Canada being the way it is), by voting fer em i contribute support (help get funding for growth) and maybe one day they will be fit to work for canada with some more 'realistic' plans.... thats y i did it--i dont know a whole lot bout the party but the basics of the platform were good enuff for me :)

the ndp was in power not too long ago.

they also made a pretty fucking huge mess that the liberals are still cleaning up.

the deficit has gone down since paul martins been in.
